who are Ryan's uncle and cousins?

Todd Andrews was Ryan's grandfather. He was the first chairman of RTE and helped to have it created.

Niall Andrews and David Andrews were his sons. Both became TDs.

Niall's son was Chris Andrews. Barry Andrews, another cousin was also a FF TD in the last Dáíl.

Tubridy's brother is running for FF in the council elections.

    FF aristocracy. Next, Miriam!

Mr Allen said Mr Gogarty had gone a step further in his affidavit by alleging that he had asked Michael Bailey if they would get a receipt for the money. ``And you alleged that Mr Bailey said, if you will excuse the rather rugged language, `will we f***!'''

    This post has been deleted.

There was a story that when he went from chairman of CIE to chairman of RTE someone asked him what was different about the new job.

"RTE carries a lot more passengers"

Andrews also supposedly said that he closed the Harcout railway line because he was "sick of seeing fecking Prods getting the train into Trinity from Bray"

Corrupt are stinking of nepotism, plenty of the kids of corrupt bastids who ruined the country are now seeking a career of their own in politics.

Thanks BB. I had no idea. Nepotism still alive and well. Does that make David MacSavage his cousin though?!!

In the interest of debate it would have been interesting if there had been another voice on the opposite side.

Everyone they are talking about is dead....

Tom Gilmartin's shocking story of corruption was just the prelude to how Ireland ended up bankrupt - planners & politicians taking bribes from developers to get planning permission for massive building projects.
When Tom Gilmartin wouldn't pay bribes they all turned against him and stonewalled his efforts. Horrific story and there's so little about now:mad:

I don't follow why Christy is on? Does he have a new tune ready about corruption?

Yeah and he names loads of places that the crowd know and they go "whoop we're from there" when he says it..
"They're all broke from cullahill to the hills of Kildare town" etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,569 ✭✭✭✭ProudDUB

To be fair to Tubs ( I know, I know.... :o ) he is letting them all speak, without interrupting them, or cutting across them as much as he usually does to his guests, especially ones who he would not be disposed to make look good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

    Bring in the audience, Ryan.

Let a few outraged people roar abuse at the camera.

That's what would have happened in the old days.

This would make a good drama - conspiracy, greed, bribes, corruption.

It would be great if RTE commissioned it, but it will never happen.

Pee Flynn still knocking around Mayo, even doing readings at Mass.

As regards a debate they wouldnt be able to find anyone to represent the opposition viewpoint.

There's a Haughey drama due soon - it's that's successful there might be a chance it could happen (wouldnt rate the odds too high though)
