It's kinda amusing to hear the fanatical republicans demand anyone who thinks Adams is guilty to bring forward their evidence while at the same time completely lambasting the British Army for their atrocities with out any evidence to add themselves. Personally I think both sides should pay for their crimes. It's not an either/scenario for me. Like I already said, I need no quota of convictions. If more from one side get convicted then so be it

You'd wonder what the whole point of the peace process was if stuff from the past is just going to be continuously dragged up. The whole point of truth and reconciliation is to talk about stuff that wouldn't otherwise be talked about and trying to get some sense of closure on issues of the conflict that there wouldn't otherwise be closure on. Dragging up every single crime that ever happened during the Troubles and putting it up in a court of law is simply not feasible or realistic or in any way fair, since you are never going to be able to make everyone "pay" for their crimes. All it serves to do is encourage a veil of secrecy to fall over the whole thing and an unwilligness from anyone to talk about the things that have happened, making it even more unlikely that anyone at all is going to get truth or closure on what happened.

These tapes have more than likely ended any chance there was of having an open and honest dialogue about wrongs that have been committed in the north, since it is now highly unlikely that anyone is going to want to speak candidly about it ever again if they think it's just going to be pulled out of the woodwork and used against them. Half the people involved in the project, including all loyalist participants, have asked for their tapes back because they're afraid of the repercussions and don't want to be on record as having knowledge of anything. It's pushing any attempt at honest, mature discussion about the Troubles backwards instead of trying to pull it forwards.

It frankly makes me wonder about whether Anthony McIntyre or Ed Moloney would have made those tapes if they'd known what could come of it, and if they did know, why exactly they went ahead with it.

We're never going to be able to move on at this rate.

This is silly - a lad in an army uniform, on active duty, shooting a civilian with an MOD issued firearm in front of witnesses..and you need evidence? Of what?

    So no trial needed then?

Every single crime shouldn't be brought up, but murders should.

    Erm

Am actually referring to the whole.issue of murder/torture/being a bad person etc being a no no if someone wishes to get into "heaven" and meet "god"

My post had nothing to do with the murder or torture of anyone. You just took a shot at something you didn't even watch, if you had you would know what I was talking about.

Just a haunch, but I'd guess it wasn't referred to due to lack of substance and proof.

Gerry Adams in a photo with other members of SF at a rally/March/anything really. Obviously taken Years ago........

Republicans in other Republicans company?

Well I never. Colour me pink.

Desperation from the Indo at this stage.

They'd be better waiting for a story with some substance behind it, they're only making themselves look silly now.

You'll also note, they have not allowed comments on that article...... Wonder why????

Showing hatred to anything to the left of Mussolini again without even hearing his points. Bet you were a big Franco fan back in the day, just put a leftie up against a wall & shoot him.

Did you start the Tea Bag movement over in the US by any chance?

No, but how does this prove he was involved in the murder? There's a picture of Lloyd george standing beside Hitler, does that prove Lloyd George was a Nazi?

I don't use hate for anyone or anything, i just have no time for the likes of Galloway. Accusing me of being a facist though? A new low even for you ;)

But a photo of Gerry Adams standing beside Republicans proves he killed someone? Where is the logic in that?

I don't expect anyone to agree with anything, there are some people i will listen to and be interested in their opinion and there are others (Galloway is one) who i wouldn't give the time of day to. Just because i won't listen to or agree with someones point of view does not make me a facist though. If anything you are the more intolerant for berating me because i refuse to listen to the rambling of a man i dislike.

What is going on in Belfast? People are adding Tout to the Peacemaker Leader Visionary caption on Gerry's mural. Same thing happened in Dundalk to a poster version which was taken down. This is nothing new, rumours have circulated for years as shown by the discussion from 6 years ago. After Donaldson anything is possible.

I can just feel your hatred spewing out of this post. You mean you'll own listen to far-right indo people & won't listen to the other side that you consider crazy ramblers.

Why do socialists always feel the need to create a false dichotomy between themselves and facists?

Oh yes that's right, because they need to justify their bat shít crazy ideals. :D
