By talking about it. It is an absolute no-no for politicians to make anything other than a nothing comment about an on-going investigation or court case.

I recall Mary Harney got herself in a bit of bother a few years back for violating this rule.

    Absolutely.

How CJH didn't stop the Malcolm McArthur murder case dead in it's tracks all those years ago is a mystery.

When McArthur was arrested, Charlie praised the Gardai for GETTING THE RIGHT MAN.

No such thing as innocent until proven guilty in Charlie's world it seems.

A few bouts of Bottery on here ,

    I wonder why

I'm not doubting you but I don't remember 500,000 people protesting here over the Iraq invasion. It was obvious that the vast majority of people were against the invasion but was there half a million people on a protest march at this time?

Its seems this faux outrage and threats to the peace process is a lot of huff and puff ,

Outrage and political policing all desperate attempts to keep the emphasis on the hero rather than allowing the truth to come out about certain murdering bastards ,

All I get from this post is that you would get some sort of sick pleasure if the north descends into violence or the peace process fails.

Would that be enough protest for you?

You can criticise the way the government handled the whistle blowing business but that is nowhere near the same league as a political party trying to interfere in or influence a murder investigation by the police.
So you know how the result of the investigation will go with allegations of garda changing evidence and phone tapping into murders in the state . De Plantier murder in Cork being one example.
    Wake up.

There was at least 100,000 in Dublin alone ,add the rest of the country the figure don't seem so wild do they and add subsequent follow up marches after too

That's an obvious threat of withdrawing support. Don't be obtuse.

If half a million people marched in Ireland i'm sure there will be plenty of press about it. Care to post a link or 3?

Too coincidental for me with the elections. We all know from how whistleblowers are shot down how corrupt the Gardai are. Absolutely in the establishment pocket.
Deffo a vote from me now. Sorry this didn't work out for you FF/FG/LA.

Are you talking about this march?

    http://anarchism.pageabode.com/andrewnflood/february-15-2003-anti-war-march-in-dublin-and-plan-for-march-1st-at-shannon

    February 15 2003 anti-war march in Dublin
Saturday 15 February saw the largest demonstration in Dublin in two decades and by far the largest anti-war demonstration in Ireland ever. The crowds were impossible for one person to count but estimates of the turnout range from 80,000 (Gardai), to 100,000 (TV3, Irish Times, Irish Independent) to 130,000 (Indymedia.ie) to 150,000 plus. Whatever the actual number this and the opinion polls published on the same day demonstrate that opposition to the war in Ireland is overwhel

    Wake up.

That's not what twowheelsgood posted, either explicitly or implicitly.

And "wake up" is a childish and self-defeating phrase.

Just did a quick search couldn't find any link to half a million people on a protest march but found two news links to 20,000 expected at the Dublin protest and 1,000 at a protest in Belfast.

    Inventive.

Although there is a certain number of posters spamming the thread with the word 'shinnerbot'?

CAPTCHAS would be handy for them.

    100,000 Dublin
    Cork
    Galway
    Waterford
    Belfast
    Derry
All had large anti war protests in the same day and in the subsequent weeks and months leading up to the invasion 2.0

I'm just wondering though, did the protesters from other parts of the country go to the main Dublin protest as well which would have been the main focus?

Still not sure where you got the half a million figure came from as I can't find any reference to it. I do remember the protests at the time and people traveling from my area to go to Dublin, so I know the 100,000 protesters in Dublin came from around the country and not just Dublin.
