For Nintendo to announce they're getting out of the set-top console business to focus on handheld and developing for other consoles.

I honestly don't know why people keep hoping for that... Seriously, they've said many times that they'll not make games for other peoples consoles. If/When they stop making their own consoles, they'll stop making games!

I simply don't believe that. There's no way that their investors, management and employees would or could just decide they're not going to make games anymore. They're a publicly listed company, they couldn't just decide to shut up shop.

A new Deus Ex that is next gen only, likely to blow me away and make me consider buying the new consoles.

More on the new UFC game with some in game footage with people playing the game and hearing feedback.

    More on MGS5

......to be excited by games! New IP's would be great.

A new version of Wipeout (never gonna happen)

Not that high on most lists but I'm hoping media molecule reveal their new game.

A sequel to 3D Land on the 3DS.

More PS2 classics remade for the Vita would be nice too. FFX is just brilliant on the machine and it'd be great to see FFXII announced.

Yes they can... Atari did it.. Sega are close to it.. Commodore made one machine and ****ed off..

I'd much prefer Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne for Vita. I'd sell my right arm for it. Final Fantasy is all well and good but Nocturne blows them out of the water.

Also I really don't want to see Nintendo go third party. Just like Sega they will change. Sega are a far less interesting studio since they went third party and Nintendo going that way will rob us of one of the biggest creative forces in the industry and one that makes some of the best games around.

We lost Sega and its blue skies. Without Nintendo the world of videogames would be a much greyer place.

More Witcher 3 gameplay footage. Some infos on the next Deus Ex and Fallout games and half life 3

Nintendo developing for Sony or Microsoft would be like Liverpool and Man Utd merging as one team.

The scary thing is I would have said the same about Sega in my youth. I cried a little inside when Sonic Adventure DX was in a Gamecube box.

    I know. The poor box.

Sega did what they had to do to survive, Nintendo are still a powerhouse, Mario will sustain them on the 3DS or whatever handheld comes next, it is sad they are a distant third on the home console front but I don't think they will die like Sega as Sega didn't have a handheld division to fall back on.

Atari didn't stop completely they kept making games on a small scale, but even so, they didn't have a software division nearly the size of Nintendo's and they were the ones who oversaw and facilitated the 1983 crash. I don't know what makes you think Sega are anywhere close to it, they're one of the biggest companies in gaming to this day.

I can't see Nintendo shutting up shop on the Wii U at such an early time. A company like them can afford to take a hit for a few years and bounce back and there's still ample time to turn things around. Both the PS3 and the 360 took quite a while to find their feet last time around and even if it never sells as well as them, it should at least do as well as the Gamecube did.

They were.. Sega is losing money faster than they're making it.. They make some games here and there but that's it.

I thought Sega were back in the black and making good profits the last few years?

All reports seem to indicate that Sega are doing fine. 2013 saw both an increase in revenue and operating income. A huge source of money is their casinos but their gaming division also grew last year.

VentureBeat: Sega’s revenues are up thanks to PC and digital gaming

I cried a lot a few years after 2005 when I swapped pokemon XD for sonic adventure DX.

That is what dyslexia can do for a person, confusing you into thinking DX is as godo as XD.

Worth noting they also trimmed things down on the corporate side of things, closing their studio in Australia and regional offices in France, Germany, Spain and Benelux. :o

Criminal it is. Course this was the time when I thought the best game on gamecube was sonic heroes.

To get some info or confirmation that another tomb raider game is in the pipeline. Loved the last one.

Perhaps so, but it clearly worked and even with these closures their revenues were still nearly $3bn overall which is on the high end of what game publishers earn in a year. When a company can lower costs and increase revenue, I'd say they're doing pretty well.

They are hardly the only company closing studios, with Sony shutting down plenty of renowned dev houses recently, Studio Liverpool axed after bringing us the excellent Wipeout on the Vita.
