If I submit a meter reading every week will there be a bill generated automatically after each reading is submitted?

    Hi pbarr,

    Thanks for your post.

Generally there would be only two occasions when you would need to submit your own meter readings:
    • If you receive an estimated bill from us that is significantly higher or lower than your actual meter reading, or
    • If an ESB Networks meter reader has called to your home but could not get access to take a meter reading

So long as your bill isn't due to be read within the next 7 days, when you submit an electricity meter reading, an adjusted (or replacement) bill would issue. This isn't something that we would encourage customers to do each week, but there is certainly no harm in you making a note of a meter reading yourself for your own information. If readings were received each week consecutively, initially replacement bills would issue but this would not continue indefinitely.

You can find more information on our reading policy here. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

    Regards,
    David
