Salou - holidaying solo

Can anyone recommend hotels or studios in salou or cambrils in Costa Dorada Spain. My friend will be travelling solo in the early June and is deciding whether to go half board or not. Wants to stay somewhere a short walk from a beach that won't break the bank as there won't be a pp share. Thanks
