I had the same issue - you need to download the uk version of the app:

I logged on my desktop to amazon uk and went to My Account - My Apps and devices - entered my email address to add a device and got the following email.

I uninstalled the appstore that was already there prior to this.


Step 1:
Open your device settings then tap "Security." If you don't see that option, tap "Applications."

Step 2:
Confirm "Unknown sources" is checked.
If unchecked, tap the "Unknown sources" checkbox. Tap "OK" on the "Attention" dialog that displays. You will now be able to install the Amazon Appstore.

Step 3:
Tap this link to download the Amazon Appstore on your Android device:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/appstore-email

Step 4:
Open your notifications and tap "AmazonApps-release.apk"
