A good physio will be able to sort it. You're unlikely to find one who 'specialises' in patellar tendon injuries.

    Pearse St Physio.

I went to Pearse street physio for this injury, I wouldn't recommend them. Was given generic stretching and strengthening exercises rather than decline squats which is standard treatment. Ended up going to a different physio.

Alot of physio's struggle to sort tendonitis. Went to a few physio's who were highly recommended & worked for county GAA teams who just told me to stretch. Dr Joe Conway though was great. Went through the injury in depth & gave me an exact timescale of when to start squatting again & the decline squat for the tendon.

Has anybody read the book Beating Patellar Tendonitis by Martin Koban?

I am thinking of picking up his book. I have been doing a few of the stretches he recommends from his website and they have helped me. Seems like he knows what he is talking about. (I suffer from this too, just my left knee).

I went to a local physio in Bray at the Cualann Clinic in Shoreline. He claimed to have the same problem as me for years and has not resolved it. Also has clients who have been dealing with it for years so it did not fill me with confidence on his abilities to cure me...

Here is the website anyway for Martin Koban - http:// www. fix-knee-pain. com/ ( spaces because aparently I am a new user :/ cheers boards )

Would love to hear peoples thoughts on it but I will probably pick it up soon anyway. He has some videos on youtube too if you search for him.

I don't have his book but I came across his website last year as I injured my knee. I think his website is very good with lots of useful information and exercises. However what I thought was patellar tendonitis was not, as confirmed by the physio and an MRI in the end.

Some of the exercises on his website are similar to what a physio might have you doing. It really depends on how severe the problem is, some of those exercises like the one legged squat a physio might not have you doing them at all.

If you are not happy with the physio, go to somebody else, get a second opinion.

The problem with tendon injuries is they seem take an age to mend, and its important to keep load off and not aggravate it further which is impossible to do with something like your knee.
