Good article here about Van Gaal & last nights game.Last paragraph is interesting about Valencia being a completely different player to the one we saw at United for the past 2 seasons.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/managers/louis-van-gaal/10839023/Five-key-differences-Louis-van-Gaal-will-make-as-Manchester-United-manager.html

    Interesting alright.
he was impressive against the Dutch, showing pace, power and even an ability to dictate the game from a central position for his country.

Valencia playing in a central position and those positive comments....

Sideways and backwards passes have been the mainstay of our midfield for nigh on 2 seasons,Valencia was brilliant at that on the wing. He'd slot into centre mid seamlessly.:P

People can report whatever stories or rumours they want, form whatever source.
It's up to the reader to believe it or not.

It's a bollix idea to only allow stories from certain posters ideas of reliable journalists m

weve sold Silvestre to Arsenal about 7 years ago and that ended up being a fantastic move for us.

apart from that, i cant think of anymore.

Ha yeah. Or else they retire at the club. We really dont let many players go that are worth any rival club buying.

Tezez was a free agent, we did not sell him.
Berbatov was sold to Fulham, they are not a rival.
Sunderland and Newcastle are not rivals.
Hargreaves was a free agent, we did not sell him.
West Ham are not a rival.
the Everton Zaha deal was pretty much a free agent scenario also and, until Moyes joined us this year, Everton were not a rival.

    keep digging.

With all due respect, they were all players sold by the club to another club in the same division. Or is there some other criterion I am unaware of?

Ah yeah Sunderland always up there challenging for the title, complete rivals for sure.

Only Silvestre was sold to a rival in any shape or form though.

Tevez was on loan at United. Never sold him.

    Hargreaves was a free agent.

The important word here is rivals. Only Tevez who was only on loan at Utd and Hargreaves who was out of contract can be consider to have went to a rival and Utd didn't sell either.

How are they not rivals? All start the season with the same number of points and play each other. Rivals, if you will.

Rivals means a club that could challenge Utd. Over the last number of years thats been a short list of City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea. And City are only recent additions to that list.

    RIVAL

    1. One who attempts to equal or surpass another, or who pursues the same object as another; a competitor.
    2. One that equals or almost equals another in a particular respect.

There is no way in hell you can claim that 19 other teams in the league each year are trying to equal or surpass United. Most are just happy to survive. Its only the top 6 to 7 clubs who can really claim a rivalry and even at that it's pushing it.

apologies if this was already discussed, but just having a look through the redissue twitter page and saw this -

this was posted a few days before Moyes was sacked.
Fergie's become very isolated on MUFC board. He has few friends left there & he's far from happy about it. Don't expect his resignation tho.

this was then posted a week or so ago -
Former Voice Of Fergie @Bob_Cass is on @talkSPORT speaking about him being frozen out at OT

its a shame that its starting to go this way for him after all he did, but his stubborness led to this and he cannot blame anybody apart from himself.

Dont know if that is to be believed. Dont think Cass and SAF see eye to eye anymore.
Maybe trying to get under his skin a bit.

Was speaking to random Everton fan I met today.

He was saying he would not be surprised if Fellaini made a return to Everton maybe next season if things don't work work.

Got me thinking if he may feel slight outsider with him being Moyes buy and Giggs not having him in squad for first game in charge.

Did think Everton fan may have a point.

I have to say it was a nice change to see nobody tell us Kate Upton was average or that you see better in Grafton Street.

I don't see it happening. I doubt an Everton team under Martinez would have much use for him. It's just my opinion but I think Fellaini will either shape up or be shipped out to the highest bidder next Summer and Everton wont be interested.

I have to agree. The Glazers entrusted Ferguson to pick his successor. Ferguson picked a friend. Not the right choice. Two Glaswegians from protestant families who were staunch Labour supporters and fund-raisers. As far as I can see that's all they had in common. It was a terrible choice.

When news spread that Moyes was going to be sacked, he tried to contact Ferguson. Ferguson didn't answer. He didn't want to be the one to tell him. Ferguson always looked after his friends and family. He didn't talk to the BBC for years after a documentary they made about his son Jason, he often, along with other managers, tried to look after Darren Ferguson with players and anything else as he saw fit. Including Tony Pulis and himself recalling five players when Darren was sacked at Peterborough. His brother was chief scout at Manchester United at his request despite being pretty anonymous for many years in the role. It's no surprise that Moyes was selected considering their friendship and share of such limited interests.

The Glazers are trying to run a business. Moyes was an awful appointment. If I was a shareholder I would be calling for Ferguson's resignation such was the quality of successor selected and the staunch defence. A legendary manager, but schoolboy board member. It'll be interesting if he decides to write a book that is not based on settling scores. It would be fascinating to heard part of what really went on. I suggest that will never happen due to the nature of the role of a director.

Everton dont have the money to buy him back unless we sold him off at £6m-£10million maximum.

in saying that, if he has another season like last then thats all he would be worth if we were to sell him this time next year. he needs a good world cup and some time off to have a good season.

Do people expect Fellaini to at least be a solid option for us in CM or do you fear it's a flop already and that it was a mistake buying him?

Personally, I think he not got a fair crack yet. I don't know if he be a 27 million player but I think he is much better then what he has shown and I hope we can see his Everton form more with LVG in charge, hopefully.

Hopefully he will have a good World Cup,his confidence was totally gone there at the end of the season,a good World Cup get his confidence back and hopefully he will settle in to the squad next season.

I think what he needs most is a manager who says "You role in this team is to X", whatever X may be. At times last season, it felt like Moyes didn't have a clue what his role was.

I'd also hope if put with a creative mind beside him, he could come good. At the very least, he'll be a great squad option for smaller games.
