Career Investigation is a banker i'd say!

I'm taking it tomorrow, Trade Unions are very topical at the moment so it could be a big possibility.

Did it last year. SEE (state explain example) was my answering technique. Left me a little short on time. If that happens use bullet points.

+1 on the trade unions! Our teacher said she would be very surprised if they didn't make an appearance. She also predicted work experience and Career Investigation - know your portfolio, basically

What do you guys mean by Trade Unions? Give me an example of a question?

Something like, Describe four functions of a Trade Union? then just talk about its Functions and give an example (SIPTU) and maybe something about Shop Stewart.

Not too familiar with that! Have to dig in deep tonight really! Know my portfolio inside out and hopefully the audio visual is as easy as the one in the pre! Best of luck to everyone x

Does anyone know what questions might be for the Case study?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 284 ✭✭skippy1977

Some of what we looked over in class.

    SWOT Analysis of Corrobawn
Methods of carrying out a survey
Why is it important to evaluate the previous year's meeting.
What supports (agencies) are in place for setting up news businesses.
    Importance of planning.
    Headings of a Business Plan
    Challenges the Committee might face
Question about ICT/ Websites/ Social Media
    Benefits of Teamwork
    Fundraising methods
Agenda of Meeting/ Role of Chairperson/ Secretary
Steps to make sure meeting is properly organised
Reasons for getting involved in voluntary organisation
Action Plan to Organise Town Festival
Skills of people on the committee

The good thing about looking over these is that if they don't come up in the case study they may well appear in the general questions.

Im taking the test aswell tomorrow, and I really need the distinction.
I was only a few marks off it in the mock exam, but i found that case study much easier!

    A few possible Qs:
    - benefits of being involved with failte ire
    - what members of the community should be on the committee
    - challenges the committee might face
    - Advantages/disadvantages of having 10 committee members
    - Importance of planning
    - Agenda for a meeting
    - How to resolve conflict on the committee
    - How to attract new as well as repeat business
    - Advantages/disadvantages of the location
    - Benefits of market research

    Any others possible questions???

Any tips for the dvd question

Looking from past papers and my teachers advice I would say :

The importance of the town carrying out market research
A downfall identified in the survey and the implications of it
Business plan - financial section and 2 more headings
The importance of a business plan
State and explain problems facing the town
Opportunities and/or challenges the group may face (SWOT)

Why is it important to target markets abroad.

How could a survey be carried out

Why is it important to review and evaluate

Agencies that provide support for business start ups

    Business plan

    Challenges of a business plan

    Prepare action plan

What type of social media presence could they develope

    Why is planning important

Why the business plan might fail

How can they ensure customers satisfaction

    Conflict resoloution

What could you say for these two ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭Seymour101

Media Presence - Digital marketing allows 24 hour advertisement, website would allow people to find details directions etc encouraging more to the are. They could promote it on websites like facebook, twitter etc and maybe start competitions or something to promote it. Allows people to find out information with the push of a button

    (usual internet website pro's really!)

Target Market abroad - It's important because most of the visitors are foreign and not from that area. Just expand!

Sorry didnt get into more detail, trying to study myself too lol.

  • Registered Users Posts: 142 ✭✭MrAweesome

    Aims and Objectives

I'm defiantly going to be freaking out the day before English if im this nervous for LCVP :P

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭Seymour101

Four effectively would be enough, I cant see the marks being higher then 9 for a business plan. Maybe a 12 marker. I wouldnt get too worried

  • Registered Users Posts: 781 ✭✭✭LoveLamps

Not even gonna look over anything!

Hoping my good knowledge of business and good portfolio will get me a merit. Could do with 50 points seeing as Im doing 2 OL subjects (ie have to count an OL subject or LCVP)

You need to know your portfolio items, e.g. Career Investigation, Enterprise Action plan.

Know about trade unions, rights to join a trade union etc, especially because that what has been in the news over the past year

Um, I think Business, Product, Personnel, Finance, Marketing, Production and Other Info.

It should be in your text book.

You should know the reasons for a business plan also, e.g. to assist in getting loans.
