Hi there! Looking forward to tomorrows half but this morning I woke up feeling a little run down..that feeling of an oncoming cold/flu...any good suggestions on what to do/take to strengthen my system and get me through the race tomorrow? I'm looking to come in sub 1 50 but to do this I really need to push myself and race it flat out... Thanks :-)

Was feeling like that myself earlier on this week, felt like I had a cold coming on & was just so tired and run down, think its a mix of increased milage, weather etc. I have literally been dosing myself with so much vitamin C, taking plenty of those Vit C dissolve tabs with my water all week, along with plenty of oranges, on top of my usual green veg and fruit, and have to say it has def helped, feeling a bit better. Oh and plenty of early nights!

I've been feeling the prickling in my throat since yesterday evening. So am going to knock back a few of those VitC tablets. In my case even if it does turn into a cold (I hope not) it shouldn't have developed properly by tomorrow morning.

Lots of germs around this time of year when Schools/Colleges start back unfortunately.

Haven't physically received my bib as I type; a trip to the help desk beforehand may yet be needed. It's a bit scary in a way having the quickest target time of those listed!

Edit: Someone (anyone!) faster than me, or who thinks they will be, put a time up!!

Best of luck to everyone running tomorrow. Hopefully the day will be nice and cool for you and not anyway humid. It makes racing so much more enjoyable.

Hey, can't work out how to ad to the table but if someone can sort me out my PB is 1.43.26 and my goal is 1.39.59. Bib no is 1797.

Thanks and good luck to all tomorrow. It's cooling down out there now so hopefully it'll stay that way.

Hi all. Seems I only pop up to post the day before races! Still following the thread though. Would love if someone could add me to the table - bib is 3008. PB is 2:07:40 but was almost a minute over that for the rock n roll half in August so will be happy if I can get in or around 02:07:30. I always dread races so will be happy when this is out of the way. Good luck everyone

I wouldn't mind a bit of light rain myself to be honest!

Off work today and started reading back through the previous years novices threads that are link in the opening post. Had me all excited but also full of dread!!

Best of luck to everyone tomorrow. If anyone recognises me be sure and say hello!

Bit late joining this thread. Ive read back a good bit through the comments and its seems full of motivation which I need to keep me going at this point! Was originally dreading tomorrow as long runs haven't been going great but feeling a bit more positive now. Hoping for a time of 2.15 tomorrow and just a finish for the marathon.

Great stuff. Enjoy the free coke and hookers but maybe you'll enjoy them more if you save them until after the race :)

Best of luck for a fantastic night sleep for everyone running and racing tomorrow. I'm enjoying the unnecessary carb loading of course. Did my two easy miles and the legs still work anyway.

My current dilemma is what to wear but hoping all heavy rain will finish overnight.

Am worried about using Nuun tablet on race day now and also gels due to caffeine content. Think will stick to usual drink.

Do we have pacer information for 1.50 to introduce ourselves to?

Myself, Marthastew and Breffni Blue (not a regular poster but an ultra running legend) are pacing 1:50 tomorrow.

Best of luck to all racing the half tomorrow. Trust in your training. Tomorrow is your chance to shine and reap the rewards from all the recent hard work. You should be nice and rested after the easier week this week so I hope you all awaken full of beans :)
Looks like conditions will be favourable to you in the morning so that's one less thing to worry about.

Tomorrrow is your dress rehearsal in many ways for the big day. Practice your DCM breakfast in the morning and you could try a gel or two that you plan to use for DCM and wear the gear you expect to wear on the day too, carry the bottle holder you plan to bring etc.

Pick a realistic goal, don't go out too hard and give it socks for the last 5k. Leave nothing behind you on the roads of the park. No regrets;)
Thanks adrian for the link to the tracker and for putting together the table. I hope you all achieve your goals:D

Haven't posted for a while because I haven't been running for a while
I haven't been injured but I have had some form of sinus virus, have had headaches and just a lack of energy
Have perked up a bit today so it is timed well for tomorrow

I had been targeting a near 2 hour time but think it would be more sensible to dial it back a bit and 2.10 seems a fair compromise having done 2.19 in training

Best of luck to everyone running tomorrow

That sounds very sensible and if you are feeling good after half way you could step it up a notch. Best of luck and hopefully you're on the road to full recovery.
