Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have never raced over 10 mile race, I will also be going for a sun 1:20.

Fill out the table at least. It would be nice if someone was going for a time other than 1:20, I may change my target to 80 mins, just to be different.

I'm interrupting the 1.20 crowd as well! Would be happy even to break 1.39 and get a new PB - anything else would be a bonus!

Not sure how to add to the table but aiming for 1:35. Will likely be a minute or two slower though. Bit of a panic earlier when I couldn't find my number but it's all good now. Good luck everyone

I attempted the table below, iPad seems to mess up the formatting... Hoping to do 1:36 or below tomorrow, staying well clear of the 1:20 consensus! Off to get my beauty sleep now, night all and good luck tomorrow!

    Good luck to all today.

    Just back from 13m LSR.
Quite easy as it was a step back from last week's 18m.

I knew when I posted up 1.40 that it was ambitious as I didn't really know what sort of time I should be able for

Ended up with 1.41.39 so just missed it but can't really be unhappy, broke my 5K time by 9 seconds and my 10K time by 2.5 mins

Where it went wrong for me was the exit from the park, I found that section long and then lost time on the hills but finished strong with a sprint for theline

    Good day

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/571637247# will get my chip time later

The race turned into a bit of disaster for me today.
Was buzzing at the start and maybe a bit too pumped up and went out way too fast.
I fell in with a crowd that seemed to be having good banter among themselves so it was easy enough follow them.
I didn't realise though the pace I was running at and ran the first 3 miles in about 23mins.Bare in mind my fastest 5k is only 24'39 so I was going way too fast for a 10mile.
Around mile 5 I started to feel the burn and by mile 7 I was almost dead on my feet. The hill inside the Chapelizod gate to the Phoenix Park almost killed me and I have ran that hill dozens of times in training without any bother.
I managed to struggle home in 1:35 and I'm very disappointed with that. I really felt with the way my training was going I'd easily go under 1:30. I've actually done longer training runs at a faster pace than my final average pace today.
I learned a few harsh lessons today that will hopefully stand to me in future races.
    Very disappointed after it all.

sorry to hear that Casey. Of course you deserve a far better time and would have achieved it had you gone out with a better strategy from the start. You are capable of way faster than 1:30 imo fwiw. Don't be too disheartened as you've learned lots from today and you can make up for it in the half (I'm presuming you're doing it). Think of it as a really good training run and you'll benefit loads from it from a fitness point of view.
We've all had races where we've gone off too hard and paid for it later but ultimately the bad days are what make you a better/stronger runner in the long run. It's all a learning experience.
Take a few easy days and dust yourself off and straight back on the saddle for you once you've recovered. Try not to be too hard on yourself.
If I was you I'd write a detailed race report (private or public) and put down all your thoughts about how you ran each mile of the race and where you think you went wrong. Then learn from it for the half.

I enjoyed that, took off a bit fast but who does not. Anyway I slowed myself down and paced it just right. In most races near the end more people are usually passing me than I am passing. As I get more experience and better at pacing this is not such an issue these days, today I was flying at the finish line so was well pleased with that. It goes to show you how important racing is, well to me anyway.

I never raced over 10 mile, the target was sub 1:20 and my garmin time was 1:17:21. So a good day.
