I am surprised that the Head of News at UTV Ireland is keeping up with the same TV3 News standard. One of the good things about UTV Ireland was its high standard of News Production.

I was never a fan of Ursula Halligan, I don't really know why she is moving. She might have been a good replacement for VB.

The news bulletins on be3, the successor to UTV Ireland, are part of 3 News Ireland.

I know that but it uses TV3 news and set. When you compare both there is no comparison.

Absolutely no comparison. And I don't see any changes since Collette Fitzpatrick took up the position of head of news. TV3 have the potential to have a great news service. They just need to give it a bit of umpffff.

Sorry Posted in wrong thread! Surprisingly 3e's big brother is working even though it is only averaging around 61,000 viewers.

And TV3 HD on Saorview please!

That would be great. Can't see it happening any time soon though

And TV3 HD on Saorview please!

If the main channels on Saorview were all in HD, it would save RTE about €2m a year. RTE currently pay €8m a year for Saorview out of €12 m. They should only pay €6m or less.

The problem is couldn't see tv3 group paying out - defiantly not for 3 channels

Sadly, Red Rock has been down on the average BBC rating for Doctors - 800k yesterday, in a slot where 1m is considered par.

Sadly, Red Rock has been down on the average BBC rating for Doctors - 800k yesterday, in a slot where 1m is considered par.

In fairness you would need to know the audience share rather than the number, I am assuming that Summer Time audiences do drop. You could also compare it to Neighbours on Channel 5 or similar type shows.

IMO Red Rock will be drop around March next with little or nothing mentioned about it, it wasn't listed in the last round of Sound and Vision funding, BBC deal isn't a massive amount of money, while it has rarely reached about 150,000 adult viewers and other shows like The Restaurant are nearly paid in full by product placement.

Sorry if you thought I was attempting to moderate I was just pointing out my dislike for the phrase.

3e to screen the live final episode of Love Island on Monday. A change of what was scheduled. Unsure why they just didn't catch up with the show and broadcast it live throughout the series anyway.

Virgin Media has done a deal with a GMX Media for 615 hours of Children's TV. It includes the series of Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs, the deal covers broadcast rights for TV3.

Is this the first deal that covers TV3 and Virgin. Deal was made with Virgin Media UK.

Interesting to see how much will be on 3Kids. My presumption was that the slot could be dropped after being shifted back an hour on be3. But this news could mean it gets expanded.

Any idea what films the group have?

Wonder will Virgin have more of an interest in the big TV and movie deals like Disney and Pixar when negotiations come around.

Will this mean that Fireman Sam and Bob The Builder will switch from their slot on RTÉjr to the new slot on 3Kids?

Non-execlusive rights not all series are being bought

Surprised to hear that Pat Kenny is back on TV3 in the autumn, his show will go out live instead of pre-recorded. To accommodate guests. It will be interesting to see how long PK Tonight stays on the air.

Tonight with VB will finish up on Monday night with a best of programme, with no replacement hosts until September. Interesting to see if they rename the show, 2 shows called Tonight!

Why is it surprising that Pat Kenny is coming back? I would have expected it

    Audience level were very low.

They'll need to do something about the day, time and how much interaction is needed with the audience.

I just can't see Wednesday as a good night for this show.

When I compare Claire Byrne live with PK tonight, there's such a huge difference. Claire Byrne seems a bit more pacy, lot of current issues and special investigations. PK tonight seemed a bit flat in comparison, and never really utilized Collette Fitzpatrick much.

They tried 9:30 and 10pm - but didnt see much in terms of a ratings rise.

I did watch some of Steven Nolan live when he's on BBC NI few months back, now that is a quick and pacey show (prob helped with no adverts) - with so much interaction from the audience, although sometimes it turned into more of a grilling for any guest on the show at times.

It was never confirmed by TV3 that it would launch on the 25th and unfortunately it didn't. As they have gone to the trouble of testing 3e HD on satellite, I presume it will launch, but now we are into the " how long is a piece of string " timescale.
