1 number above UTV Ireland. If only they launched it 5 or so months ago - they may have had 2 channels before UTV Ireland.

On TAM, they have the top 10 shows on TV3+1.
But TAM like to be so secretive, that we don't know what the actual figures were. Although i looked at this chart a few weeks ago, and it had Ireland AM and Jeremy Kyle there, so the figures must be in the low %, similar to +1 channels in England

    Top 10 February 2015
    INSIDE DUBLIN'S GANG
    ALL STAR FAMILY FORTUNES
    JASON BYRNE'S SNAPTA
    THE PURSUIT OF HAPPY
    TV3 NEWS: THE 5:30
    BEWITCHED
    DONAL MACINTYRE
    RED ROCK
    JUDGE JUDY
    THE CUBE

0.16% according to their Feb share and reach on TAM Ireland.

+1's really only retain an audience they don't ad an audience and for a small country TV3 couldn't fund TV3+1 on Saorview. If TV3 want to gain an audience they need to invest in better programming and possibly launch another channel that might gain a 2% of the audience across all platforms.

It will be interesting to see if TV3+1 increases its audience share over the next few months, and if it benefits TV3 as a whole. I think they will be lucky to get 0.6% that the part time channel RTÉ ONE +1 gets.

Interesting that they are on the EPG and not RTE1 HD yet. they must have found someway of getting it on the epg that RTE cant find/wont pay.....

Main reason being the HD channel would take up a much larger space on a transponder I would imagine .. Sky can easily place a SD channel on various transponders because it's so small.

The 5th April edition of the Sunday Business Post continued to tout a possible takeover of TV3 in what amounted to a longer version of the previous weeks article. Again much speculation and zero in the way of hard facts.

    Which companies did they mention.

I've thrown it out at this stage, but IIRC Viacom was mentioned.

I think they were mentioned in the last article, I though someone else might have been mentioned.

Which transponder is it on? If it's not on the RTE transponder, they may be using a UK service provider for the time shift, uplink and transmission costs on another transponder.

Here's the make up of the transponder TV3+1 is located (12304 H)

Just to show the difference in space required for a HD channel - here's RTÉ2HD on the "Irish" transponder -

My guess is that Sky are directly providing this +1 service for a fee.

Interest if this is the case Sky are getting 250,000 for each irish non-Saorview Channel.

Eventually it'd have to be cheaper for TV3 to go with Soarview , assuming that all Saorview channel get free access to Sky.

Were are UTV Ireland and 3e on satellite?

Very little substance to the article, a lot of kite flying and suggestions of who might be interested in buying TV3.

With its level of debt I can't see to many being interested but obviously someone is feeding the story that TV3 is up for sale.

Does the article mention the level of debt? Does the article mention any other companies?

    TV3+1 reports

“Timeshift” channels can swell audience share by as much as 5 per cent without the need for the broadcaster to spend additional money on content.

Though largely speaking a channel like 3e doesn't cost much either. And 5% of 7% is only 0.35%

the IT report reads straight like it was written by the TV3 press dept themselves. Does the Times not have any journalists anymore that they just rehash press releases??
it will be interesting to see if Tv3 HD appears on Sky before RTE1 HD. that should really tell us what the hold up is.

    From the article last week
International distribution company Viacom, cable giant Liberty (the owner of UPC) and Denis O'Brien's Communicorp could be possible buyers of the broadcaster.

The article also speculates the company could be worth €140m, that's just over half what Doughty Hanson paid for it back in 2006 (€265m).

Only last year it was suggested TV3 was worth just €10m, who in there right mind would pay €140m !

    another puff TV3 article

If you g=have satellite, its ITV for the 2015 rugby world cup

    Interesting article in many ways.

The TV3 Group has retained 85% of its audience or it has lost 15%

UTV have a share of 6% or have increased its audience by 100%

RTÉ have lost 2% of its audience or RTÉ largely remain level.

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/screen-test-can-pat-kenny-save-utv-ireland-31130327.html

This article says more about audience figures

    Tuesday March 31st
    The 5:30 120,000
    Six One 374,000
    Ireland Live 15,500
    8 O'Clock ??????
    Ireland Live at 10 40,400

It damns UTV's market share for such shows, yet fails to tell us how well News @ 8 is doing though David McRedmond says
our new nightly news bulletin, airing at 8pm - the most common time for the main evening news on the continent - has been very well received.

In other words its not getting the kind of audience we want but don't say that, after all its early days. How many viewers? Look UTV Ireland's news is lucky to get 1.2% of the available audience.

Oh dear. When you have Judge Judy in your top 10 watch shows, you should start worrying!

So much for the spining that 'back in the room' had been a ratings winner for TV3, the return of BGT should be a significant boost but clearly TV3 has big problems.

The ratings across all the channels over Easter Saturday were terrible. Maybe many go to mass or take advantage of the pubs reopening again. :pac: Huge fall for You're Back in The Room, but even The Cube didn't make the Top 20. Ant and Dec's ratings on UTV Ireland have been very poor through it's run, while RTE1's gameshow has been a disaster.

Those figures are worrying for TV3 - having a show at 11pm leading the way is just beyond belief.

Vincent needs to be moved to 10pm to take full advantage of his pull for those getting up early the next morning.

They have tried that with a few shows starting at 10pm on a Wednesday, when the People's Debate was on. It didn't really raise the figures at all - it had the same amount of viewers that an 11pm show had. They should look at moving it earlier around next years elections, but for now I think it's doing a decent enough job at 11 - plus would find it extremely hard to get any ratings for that slot if they moved the show elsewhere.
