Now, if they sorted out the awful PQ on Saorview then they'd 'Be' moving in the right direction...!

    From the Indo:
"In a statement the group revealed that TV3 will be the group's "flagship channel" focusing premium Irish content and the "best of acquired programming".

3e will be the exclusive home of Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother while the newly formed be3 "will give viewers a second chance to see their favourite soaps".
The statement continues: "be3 will be home to popular programmes such as Midsomer Murders, Loose Women and Benidorm."

Looks like Loose Women will remain. I'd say Midday will stay on TV3.
So it looks like apart from the dogs been rebranded and the news coming from the new TV3 Ireland News Hub for all three channels it doesn't look like much new content will be added to the schedule of 3e and be3. A bit of tweaking here and there.

I said it before and I'll say it again for some reason the audience of around six hundred thousand who depend on Saorview for their tv service don't seem to matter to TV3. Now that VM have started the rebrand they might consider Saorview as an important part of increasing their advertising revenue and switch to HD.

Female focused? So will Midday Expose and all that sh1te be moved over? And if so will there be "male focused" programming replacing them?
I was just thinking the same for some reason tv companies seem to focus on launching female themed channels and I'm sure there is a market for a male themed channel or even a couple of hours a day of male themed programmes.

Bravo and Men and Motors both made a go of that in the past, as does the latters spirtual successor ITV4.

But back to the matter at hand, and it's interesting to note two of the programming changes announced. Firstly the move of kids programmes to Be 3 means that the ITV daytime programmes currently aired are likely to bite the dust. The second is that the "3 Ireland News" hub is really code for signalling the cancellation of Ireland Live, and I imagine it won't be back after Christmas. Overall Be 3 is likely to look quite different from UTV Ireland, even if ITV programmes remain its backbone.

Yep it looks like that but I would say they will keep This Morning on Be3 as that is quite popular and women orientated. they must be dropping GMB as they think that people watch Ireland AM instead. They might put some ITV dramas on TV3.

So Be 3 will be a copy of the awful ITV Be? I'd rather they dropped it from Saorview and made TV3 HD instead.

I wonder what will happen to UTV Ireland player? Will it become 3Be player or just disappear.?

Looks like it no mention of a 3Be player on their website. Also there is going to be two half hour news bulletins on 3e so I take it there will be shorter bulletins on 3Be. Possibly five or ten minute ones.

I had sneaky feeling UTVI would rebrand in to a female skewered channel. I said it in one of my earlier posts. I wonder what will fill the 3kids slot on 3e? I can't wait to see the full schedule of all three channels. I hope they offer something new and refreshing and less repeats.

Skewered females? Is this going to be an SM channel? We could do with a bit of nookie TV. With the sub SD picture quality it really would be 'soft' porn. BTW, I bags the claim to being the first to call it Be3 (no space) on the 2nd. Nya na na nya na etc.

the new TV3 logos certainly look better, then again that wouldn't be hard.

I wonder will we see new look studios that don't look so small and pokey.

All 3 channels should be in HD on Sky and cable, but I guess 3e is going to remain low quality quicktime/realplayer video quality

be3 spells the end of the last remaining trace of the old, horrible UTV branding.

Disappointing it's going to be a female channel, is there enough audience in this country for such a channel? Would have been much better as a Channel 5/5USA style channel.

Virgin Media viewers have gone from UTV NI > UTV Ireland > be3, unlikely to ever have UTV NI or any ITV region back.

Wasn't there some kind of public outrage when UTVI didn't show GMB at the beginning ? However that was when it was a separate channel to TV3, I guess now, the thinking of Virgin will be one breakfast show and that will be Ireland AM.

So which channel is showing the new dramas that are shown simultaneously on ITV? Hope GMB isn't dropped!

One would assume that B3 will do that, considering that it is confirmed that it will show Midsomer Murders - though it's possible that TV3 itself will show some of the dramas.

Seems Be 3 moves to 106 on Virgin, no word on where 3e goes. I am not sure why 3e didn't move to 105 when Eir Sport left but I have my suspicion that might happen now, notwithstanding Sky Sports Mix being there.

You may well see all of them, TV3 HD, 3e HD and Be 3 HD on Virgin and Sky, but obviously not on poor old Saorview.

It sounds and looks like the rebrand was done by one of Alan Sugars teams on the Apprentice. Terrible

Obviously the losing team - one of them will be fired.

Oh yeah, I didn't even realise that when looking at the press release on TV3's site:
"be3 will be available on channel 106 on Virgin Media, channel 116 on Sky, channel 106 on Saorview, channel 108 on Eir’s eVision and channel 106 on Vodafone."

They'll have to move Sky Sports Mix. It's a ridiculous channel seemingly devoted to Netball, Dutch football and repeats of Game Changers, and shouldn't be there in such a high position.

An overhaul of the EPG numbers would be the best thing for Virgin Media in January. Too many gaps, with plus +1 and HD channels sporadically thrown around.

On Vodafone it will move from 110 to 106, meaning eir sport 1 is being relegated to a lower number. That said, I don't know why eir sport 1 isn't in the 400's with the other sports channels anyway.
