Hub seal in Massey 398

    Anyone know of any good mechanics in the mullingar to delvin area as I've a hub seal that needs changing out. Cheers in advance

    Yeah, Flynns. Usually no dearer long term than getting a back-yard lad to do it and they stand over their work.

    Cheers for that tail docker. Got sorted in the end. One thing tho when we put the seal back into the hub we put it in about 5 mm too far and we're too afraid to pull it back into place as it was a double seal and afraid of damaging it. The tractor haven't moved yet as we have some work left to do on it yet.

    Does anyone know If the seal will still work as intended even after been pushed in too far?

    should leak if fitted incorrectly, is that big inner seal you are referring to , were there spacer shims involved when removing.

    Yeah the big seal. Seems to be holding ok so far

    the bearing in black cab 390 is worse than 398 actually and more expensive and prone to cracking by simply lifting front wheels off ground if they bang down hard, seal leaked straight away.had funny experience with some oil brands leaking when hot so used to stick to castrol gear oil, anyway best of luck.
