Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I love these games. From a neutral point of view they're always some of my favourite of the entire season as they're usually always very evenly contested with obviously a huge prize on offer at the end of it.

Derby to win it for me and I'd love to see them back in the Premier League. Good club and a cracking away day.

Wigan v QPR is literally just a coin toss.

    Derby for me.

Expect them to be hammered tonight so.

Absolutely any excuse to post this again :pac:

Still gutted we didn't turn up in the final though.

The play offs are one of the most fascinating competitions of the year. There is a lot more attacking and going for it, and I think it is completely to do with no away goals being in the equation.

Looking forward to catching them all, even the League 1 and 2 ones.

    Last 6 for each club

    Derby WWWWWD
    Brighton WWDDWW

    Qpr LWLWDW
    Wigan LWLLWL

    I think it'll be a Wigan/Derby final. Would be a cracking game.

Brighton are all over them so far. Derby haven't got out of their own half yet.

    1-0, Lingaard.

Just before that goal you could clearly hear someone on the Derby bench telling them to "switch on", pity they didn't take his advice there.

    Brighton take the lead.

Stuck a tenner on QPR so I'll be supporting them.

Jesus, what was Upson at there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Upson with a terrible tackle to concede the penalty. Missed the ball by about a yard.

That was derbys 1st proper attack yeah?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

    Brilliant tackle from Upson there.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Upson, what the **** was that? :pac:

Keeper wasn't saving that even if he had gone the right way, cracking penalty.

The no away goals rule in the playoffs is great. It really lets both teams go for it over the two legs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Derby have some serious pace about them on the counter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Is it just me or does Derby's lineup sound like a cast of Dream Team? The just have a load of players with 'regular' names:

    Lee Grant
    Jake Buxton
    Jamie Ward
    Chris Martin
    Johnny Russell
    John Eustace
    Will Hughes on the bench...

    And Steve McLaren as manager.

    Also wearing a purpleish kit.

Absolute sickener to concede at that time, in that manner.

    What a save!

Can't see Brighton scoring. They look so one dimensional and slow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Stephen Ward, Conor Sammon, Keith Andrews. I'm expecting Neil Kilkenny to show up soon to complete the ensemble of 'forgotten players who played for Ireland'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

    Brighton 1-2 Derby.

Very finely poised going into next week.

Steve McLaren started the season helping 'Arry out with the coaching at QPR so using the Murphy's Law principle it has to be a Derby - QPR play-off!

Went to Forest - Brighton on Saturday, and can confirm that the Seagulls are muck. No surprise Derby won tonight, much better team. Should be a landslide in the second leg.

Wigan v qpr is shocking so far. 1 effort on target in 40 mins.

It's been a very long season for Wigan what with their cup run and their stint in the Europa league. Must be catching up with them.

Sounds like I played a blinder missing this one. The vast majority of Championship playoff games are superb, even some of the 0-0's over the last few years have been entertaining games, there was bound to be a rubbish one eventually.

Last night's game was equally rubbish / Derby had 1 shot on target the whole game and scored twice.

Good result for Rangers but I'd still fancy Wigan to turn them over.

I enjoyed it to be honest. The first half was really good IMO.

McClean could have scored there  What an idiot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

McClean booked for a terrible dive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Awful stuff from McClean.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,304 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Terrible back pass, even worse dive, but great decision by the ref.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,797 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

You'd have to think that this will be the end of management for Harry if QPR fail here.

McClean is having an interesting game. Great cross for the goal, booked for diving and clearing off the line so far.

    Peno :(

Is there away goals in the playoffs?

    1-1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,797 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

1-1, converted pen. That was the only way QPR looked like they were going to score because they've been incredibly wasteful tonight.
