When it comes to the neknomination there was an urgency given the speed that these thing take hold. But CF has has many victims, surely if awareness needed to be raised they could have found a less recent tragedy to do this.

Perhaps Ms McEntee might come back when there's a discussion about nepotism in Irish politics?

First thing I think when I see this lot is break out the elocution teachers. And I cannot stand Joan Collins, Averil Power and Kathleen Lynch.

....hopefully this turns into a purely politics discussion.

There has never been a better time to be a Woman who wants to get elected.

The Parties have to run 30% female candidates or they get no funding.

What this conversation needs is fianna fails Lorraine Clifford from Dublin 4, purely for debating purposes.......

This whole argument about "women aren't represented enough in politics" is complete horse****.

The entire argument is based on the concept that elected persons only represent people like them.

If I were elected, I would represent everyone in my constituency; black/white, male/female, old/young, straight/gay -I really don't discriminate against ANY of them.

    I'm a 44yo straight white male, BTW.

What's the point of bringing on a bunch of female politicians to talk about women in politics?! He just moved one of them on from talking about a more general politics point, 'well lets keep to the point of women in politics'. Do we really need a crowd of female politicians whose only agenda is to have more women in politics?! Balls. Whenever there are strong female candidates I'll vote for them, but I will never vote for a woman because she's a woman.

This was my first thought when Shatters replacement was announced. Strangely enough there was no mention of his secretary/spin doctors being replaced.

And now lets bitch about Fine Gael being bad for women.

Second worst next to FF, but lets forget about them...cause Ryan's related to half of them...

The problem isn't that women aren't represented. It's that the Dail isn't representative of Irish society - 50% of which is female.

Ah fek off woman in the green dress, challenged with stats differing to your own and all you can do is smile beguilingly and laff it off. FFS

Just had a look at GNS but actually had to switch back cos Graham and Jean Paul are wearing fierce shiny suits. I may have to switch off altogether. Can't bear to listen to Kathleen Lynch - Ms Meritorious

Methinks you are missing the point. Given the current jobs for the boys set up, the odds of you getting a chance to vote for a woman in the first place are very slim, given all the obstacles that are in their way for them to have a life in politics. That is their whole point.
