Every wonder why Agriland land always have the dramatic headline for sheep going down
Sheep drop €10 euro in mart or sheep back 20cent
And always quote a price 20 cents less than the factory are quoting
    Makes you wonder

Makes u wonder what? It's like every coop setup with best of intentions till the money is flashed. Simple as that!

They can only put up the figures the factory quotes to them, same as IFJ.
IFA sends out texts of whats available as quoted by farmers and there's complaints about that too...... go figure.
A neighbour was quote €5.60 yesterday

Who’s paying for them to put up lower prices
A month ago when prices peaked in Kilkenny mart they posted the prices up for the previous week
And with factories crying out for lambs this week they put up posts last week they were getting loads and they hadn’t anything up

Theres no sense to it.....food has never been sold faster, nor demand higher, and with people in lockdown across europe, only thing they can buy is food

Supplies of quality hoggests must be dwindling.....theres only 1 way prices should be going, anyone with early lamb is in to make a killing this year

Governments top priority after health, is ensuring the uninterrupted supply of the food chain. If its messing from the factory side, then they only have themselves to blame when theres zero trust in our relationship with them.

Presume catering trade across Europe had fallen off a cliff. No eating out ,no events, matches, concerts etc
Most of our high end cuts are exported so not hard to see demand dropping

    UK mart prices
    Hoggets to 180 gbp
    Ewes to 200 gbp

Something is badly wrong with Irish set up

    Reporter rings the factory
"Hi X here from Agriland looking for this weeks quotes"

What do you think the factory man is going to tell them? The top price the average price or the bottom price?

They reporter can only publish what they get told

The reporter is hardly going to haggle either!

And bad news is as much of a story for them as good news. Their business is all about getting clicks on the website links

Saw Spring lamb was supposedly quoted at €6.50, but hopefully factories are just trying to downplay prices.

Spring lamb has started €1 ahead of hoggets the last few years so it should open closer to €6.80-7.00

    to what weight?

the main reason we quit early lamb, being treated like dirt by the factories.

Think I saw 18kg someplace on Twitter but couldn’t be sure.

Ramadan is 2 weeks after Easter this year so prices should hold til then hopefully.

Having said that, I was onto our local butcher here about taking a few for Easter but there’s not too many lads into Ramadan where we are!

Saw that on twitter as well. Need to be to 20kg min. Thrive will take off now and 18kg is an insult.

Need very minimum 130 a head for lamb at this time of year to cover exs.

A paid ad popped up on my facebook today. Kepak are actively looking for more production staff and boners, on factory floors across the country. Trying to pick up staff temporarily laid off elsewhere. Good to see not all the factories are having touble shifting meat atm.
