I'd say that would be about the tops. However butchers and wholesalers must be starved as factories are bulk buying in most Marts.

The indo was reporting the market abit volatile and the factories attempting to pull the prices back to nothing, but then having to pay proper money when the supplies weren't coming. It's up to everyone to decide what to do. i've a good few ewe hoggets that will be ready over the next few weeks. If they sell, they sell, if not they'll go as breeders in the summer.

Yes, but afaik at the end of ramadan, they have the big feast. A few year ago I used to sell to an ethnic buyer and the end of the festival was when every single family wanted a full lamb for the table. It was the peak demand. But look, I'm tired from lambing, the mind is gone to mush, and could be mistaken, but dont think I am.

Better off going on the hook especially with creep fed lambs. (IMO)

Not a lot in the difference at 6:30 dead :126 less killing charge v 121.80 no charge at 42kgs.
Thats assuming price is 6:30 next week and lambs weigh full weight live

What's cull ewes making? Heard 2.50 till 40kg? That's 100 dead at full weight? Seems very low did they just collapse?

Hear 6 euro today for hoggets and 6;60 for lamb.Factories actively looking for spring lambs at the moment it seems.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,041 ✭✭✭Lambman

What would grazing ewes be worth then around 65-75kg not fat.

When I was supplying a ramadan buyer , they wanted 16-19kg carcass or 35- 42kg liveweight and nothing over that weight. So maybe that's why their looking for springs. Having said that they'll take hoggets just as quick, within the same specification. At the same time theres always other customers and butchers looking for the heavier hoggets.
