Just have lambs left so never asked to be honest though think cull ewe trade poor enough re. factory demand.
Lambs still killing ok off grass but suppose creep bins may come out shortly to get rid of the last few.

Let 70 ewes to ram 14 days ago. 50 tipped. Thought it would be higher. (Scottish blackface ewes all in excellent condition on good land all year. Never on hill )

Was watching it on line. That’s a very good price. Numbers seemed small . Hard to judge the sheep on that camera and a few times in large groups it didn’t state how many sheep was in the group which is very annoying.

I agree great breakfast there. Always enjoy it. Wasn’t open few weeks back when I was there buying a few stores . Are any canteens open in Mary’s when it was at level 3.

Any prices for this week? Have a few to go. Not sure whether to go to factory or mart. Seems to be good prices in Marts.

5.40 to 22kg Icm for a good load of good lambs.
But the Mart does look like better average.

Have a load for next week so no idea re. this week prices but hearing 5:40 is about it at the moment.
Steady trade at that money but no fortune to be honest.Still nice to keep over the 5 euro a kilo all along.
Hear mart trade can be good at times but looking at paper and from talking to people factory weight lambs seem to be making 4/5 euro a head less in mart but then again hard to know what they were like as weight alone is not the full story ie could be 47 or 48 kgs but under finished.

Sold our first ever batch of lambs yesterday in Ennis. 6 lambs, average weight 49.5kg, made 121. Fairly hapy with that.

No fortune but this is the minimum level it needs to be held at to stem back and inevitably national exodus.

Unlike beef where sfp payments, pensions, independent income all subsidise a non profitable enterprise, sheep don’t hold the same appeal for taxation or whatever motivates us to keep beef barons in the style they are accustomed.

Unusual sale looking at an empty ring online, doesn't affect the trade though

That's another small rise ok. Going the right way but the store man will be hard pressed to make much this year as looking like another year of steady prices with no big lift around Christmas/New Year

The guys with plentiful grass and forage catch crops are doing ok. 260€ to 290€ rations fed intensively need a woeful price no matter how cheap the store lamb.

And that's if your able to buy in bulk and get it blown in loose. For the ordinary lads buying it in small bags it's around €310 a tonne in my area.

Is that few quid going to make a difference ?

It gets very expensive very fast when your shovelling it in to them at €310 a tonne. At that stage your more or less just a unpaid worker for the mill and larry, as your making more for them then what you are for yourself.
