Looking at roscrea marts results today. Lambs over 50kg consistently made around €150.

Has the price of lamb in supermarkets gone up over the past while? And the higher price is being passed back to the farmer?

Or where had this extra money come from?

Lamb is on offer in a big supermarket chain this weekend. Usually when that happens the price drops or the factory supplying them are under pressure to give them a deal.

Kildare back to 6:30 I hear for today.
Think the processors were getting worried about where they would end up.6:60 this time of year would mean that spring lamb should open at 8 euro a kilo.

Early lambers will need prices like that and higher given the amount of meal and other costs that are going to rise trying to keep stock right in this weather

id say they are trying something, prob throw out Brexit or something, even though its the godsend sheep men have waited for. its pure hope from factoires good aul economics 101 , supply and demand, and theres a serious shortage of lambs my agent was saying. its just poker face from factories hoping to get the last of lads lambs in and hope they can start getting lambs from mainland britain for easter. i heard theres a bit of panic over contracts to france for ramadan and easter only 8 weeks away

Dont know what has caused prices to come back ? Whenever I've read any articles, their struggling to keep supermarket shelves stocked in europe ? Maybe just an off week or trying to flush out supplies.

Jeez that’s back allot. Did they need further feeding.?
Was going to go to Kildare with a load this week but will see how the price goes over the week. Have plenty if fodder. They are getting a bit of meal alright but will hold out for a week or two and see what ways things are going. Would seem to be a position. From factories to soften price.

Allot of English lamb was sold pre brexit due to uncertainty.
There is allot of delays and documentation for being lambs over from uk even if they are available so think I will hold tight.
