A different batch. These hoggets Had fluke a few months ago and were on grass. Very hard to justify mealing animals for €4-70 a kilo this spring. luckily was only one sheep, so just learn lesson and move on.

    well that at least!

Looking after the groups lambs in the factory this week, a lot of lambs coming fit around.

Anyone any quotes for lambs for this week?

I was dropping cull ewes into Kildare last night and some amount of Spring lamb in there. All small lots. Everyone trying to get a few off at the current good prices. Some noise in there.

How much weight would a lamb lose over night not being weaned, stress etc

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,905 ✭✭✭Dickie10

they reckon it could lose up to 1 kg live weight about 0.5 kg dead. i brought lambs into navan at 9 pm last night. i hate having to do it but most sheep farmers have to work as well, so i couldnt risk being late, id have to shower and change when i got back home before work too. i brought from 43 to 48 kg hope i average 20 kg dead. prices were goood though so madness not to go. 6;15 in navan today

Yea got 6.20 myself, left them off this morning plenty of lambs there. Price sometimes falls after the bank holiday weekend so suppose lads are afraid of this again

Ramadan is the only show that's driving prices at the moment.
