Will people be more likely to buy short tailed store lambs?

Oh yes!..bought a few long tailed ones this year and some job clipping them to keep them clean and that was before Christmas when weather wasn't too bad.

The day of the long tail store is over. Lads from hilly ground with this custom take note.

5:20 seems to be the base with 5:25 going in most places for tomorrow.Lambs are a bit slower to come out this week so perhaps a little more available later on in the week.

Last of the hoggets killed this week got 5.30 and they came into e116, couldnt believe they killed out so well considering the weather as they were getting fed outdoors on bare ground with hogget nuts and silage, average 43-44 kg liveweight mostly last years runts and a few late lambs

If you bring dirty lambs to the factory, will they clip them for you and charge the clipping fee or just send you home ?

Farmers here are clipping them before they go anyway, shearers are charging €1 sheep for two strokes from the head along the middle belly and up to the tail. you cant go over the tail

It's an ill wind etc. two students clipped 200 lambs near here on wednesday night so it's not all bad

Would anyone do it for less? Sure the worst of the work in shearing is done once you have them caught, turned and the belly opened...

You wouldn't expect them to, when I was shearing I always hated crutching, you'd shear them completely easier

Didn't see any real price difference in dirty and clean sheep at mart last night,if there was it was very minor

A euro will clip them anyway, maybe less if an agent has a lot to do

Might try the mart next week. Would hate to drive 100 mike to the factory to be sent home again.
