Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anybody remember the Fiat Marea Weekend - St. Moritz with its mad chrome lights and roof rails?
Just before (and after!) the Stilo came out.

    The Rover 45 "Olympic Impression"
    get-carpic.ashx?imgid=13978&w=480&h=360
    Came with a free bag.

Ive seen those roof rails before on Marea estates - late ones too come to think of it - didn't realise it was a limited edition

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

A good few of them ended up as hire cars IIRC

    The Mareas????

    Or the 45 Olympic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

The mareas. The 45s were a uk spec because MGR supplied the cars for team GB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,822 ✭✭✭Old diesel

Speaking of Olympics - was there an Opel Kadett Olympic at some point too???

Know nothing about them - apart from having some sort of recollection of seeing one (or 3???) on dealers adverts back in the day.

    May have been around 84????

Think there was runout editions of the Kadett in 91 - I think there was Tiffany (3 door) Expression (4 door saloon) - and possibly one based on the 5 door which ive forgotten.

The Expression had rear headrests - and colour keyed door mirrors from what I recall.

Mind you I could be completely mistaken here - just going from recollection

    Honda CR-X Si Exclusive.

    exinfr.jpg

Cream leather interior and glass roof. A mate of mine had one for a while and I nearly imported one from Japan. Much nicer place to sit than the standard version.

They also made a load of different Limited editions of the 1.5 dual carb version.

Yes I remember those - a neighbour here bought one new back in around early 98.

There was runout editions of the Mk 2 Golf and Jetta too - the Golf was a Peasadena (wrong spelling) and the Jetta was a Pacific I think.

Another one - Volkswagen Polo Twist with bod-coded wheel trims.

my neighbour had a pasadena golf. It had an updated interior afair and had a few differences on the exterior too. There was a pasadena sticker on each rear quarter panel.

Hold on - how did I forget this one

Nissan Sunny Select - late 1990/early 91 - it was the runout special for the N13 Sunny before it was replaced by the N14

Colour keyed bumpers, different grill, brown tinted glass, electric windows, Uk spec (which were similar style to the Bluebird) door mirrors.

How about a Santro Xing Celebration Edition:

Sports additional frills such as body graphics, rear chrome garnishing and parking sensors with LED display. Inside, there’s a new manual rear curtain, floor mats, and a Blaupunkt stereo system.

Be some crack if you parked it outside the shop and some little bray jammed a screwdriver under the badge and nicked it.

Only truly dreadful people would order a BMW accessorised by a cutlery company so it'd be hard to feel sorry for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,358 ✭✭✭kev1.3s

I think the same goes for any of those special edition rollers that were on that documentary on ch4, talk about making a classy motor vulgar!

The Yanks were great at producing limited edition Pace Cars, particularly for Indianapolis 500:

It's the kind of motor that would appeal to the "considerably richer than you" couple from Harry Enfield. ;)

my auld fella had a nissan bluebird classic, bought it new in 1990. colour coded bumpers and mirrors as far as i remember is what separated the classic from the regular bluebirds. The primera followed on at around the same time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

One thing I always remember about Bluebirds is that they smelt great.

If they stuck a decent engine in it it could have been a serious car

The Skoda Lauren and Klemment edition is another one. Were fairly high spec.

Spec was fairly high - that turned into more of a trim level though I think
I know on the mk2 Octavia they had l&k trim all the way through from 04 to 12

They are really well equipped to be fair, and its a nice tribute to the fathers of skoda cars (who are both dead since the 30s) - they didn't start Skoda incidentally, they were taken over by Skoda

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,113 ✭✭✭Gavman84

I guess it was a trim level. Rare enough tho wouldn't see many of them about. Ya was Octavia one was thinking of.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

I know there was a Felicia L&K too, not sure if there ever was a Favorit as well

I still drool over that model 626. Dreadful interior, but what a design for its time!!

I remember a woman near us brought a white one with alloys in from the UK pretty new.
At the time it was a stunner.

I can see why you didn't like the interiors - but I thought the interior on those 626s was quite nice.

Probably a bit too American looking with the dash mind you but I thought it was fine
