Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone posted the Polo Harlequin yet?

I remember Tom Murphy had one in the old showrooms on Ballybricken in Waterford.

Up to date - those Audi A1 "competition line" are pretty oddball too.

VW Scirocco Storm. Pretty rare only 600 made in Blue and Brown.
I had one that some cretin had installed a 1.6 diesel engine into.
Leather interior, Sunroof and a nice badge.
I sold it to a guy who ripped the interior out for a Beetle project and scrapped it.
Last seen in a scrapyard in Killarney.

Lol - that is so like something that could only happen in Ireland - 1.6 diesel into a mk 2 Scirocco.

    :D

Did I mention that it was very economical?:D
It actually was but not much fun to drive with the diesel.
Still one of the most comfortable seats I have sat in.
The bases are about 2" longer than the Mk2 Golf.

Probably not much now if these articles from 2011 are to be believed. Contains information that car lovers may find disturbing. I'm sure this was covered in a motors thread at the time.

The Sultan of Brunei had several other factory specials built including Ferrari 456 sedans and a Spider i think...

I seen this baby in the flesh, it's just awesome, a 1925 ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM I BARKER TORPEDO TOURER, special edition built for hunting Bengal Tigers for the Maharajah of Kotah. To say it had presence is an understatement.

    The Alfa 75 Turbo Evoluzione:

    evow.jpg

It was essentially a track-ready, mod-friendly spec sold to the public just to obtain Group A homologation for the WTCC; Only the minimum required of 500 were ever made. It had the same 4-in line 1.8 engine as the normal Alfa 75 1.8, reduced to 1762cc from 1779cc and with the addition of a turbo. Declared power output was 155hp, but when tested on the dyno, many owners found out their car put out well above 200...sneaky :D

Toyota had one or two special editions corollas that were different body shapes. Can't remember the name, but I thought they looked better than the standard car.

I have a Toyota corolla sprinter 1.3 it's a brill car but she could be heading for the scrap yard :(

wow. why would anyone want that "Race Base" EK?

it's like a **** replica you'd see on donedeal. i was thinking it would be bought for track use only, but what good would those seats be on the track. its weird. must have been a very cheap alternative. was the no carpet standard?

I think they did come with the standard civic carpet. that one obviously wasn't stripped enough for its owner :pac:

What I meant to say was no type R mats.

I reckon Honda intended that you fit your own proper, lightweight bucket seats, and cage, fire extinguisher system, rims, tyres etc. They probably didn't see the point in charging you for the heavy type R recaro semi buckets if you are going to rip them out for a proper bucket seat.

It's actually an M Coupe. I've never been a big BMW fan, but I have a soft spot for that particular car.

If it had abs and airbags, I'd forgive it for the rest of the omitted items.

Bang on the money, it's built and sold to be modified to the owners specs. Other jap brands do it too

Strictly speaking It's a road car and not a track car, just like the regular type R.

My point was that these are essential safety items, especially in a performance car.

it also could be brought up to regular type R spec easily enough if you didn't have to be fitting airbags or abs. The dash in these doesn't look that nice in these with the airbag omitted.

If you want to be pedantic about it at least be right ;)

    But if we're really being pedantic, it's a Z3 Coupe :)

The Z3 coupe was never sold here which is why I've only ever seen an M Coupe.

Had a MG Metro Turbo once (longtime ago). That's right: metro. + turbo. Never a great idea to put a turbo into a wheelbarrow with hydraulic suspension.

Fun while it lasted. It was plastered with 'turbo' stickers just to let the other 17yo's know who's the boss for 'spin the wheels' and almost acheived sonic acceleration up to 40 mph in 2nd, with the sound to match from the wee 1.2
