I really think this new restaurant warrants it's own thread!

I went to eat in Aroi on Thursday evening ,not sure what to expect but is without a doubt my new favourite place to eat in limerick now.

I would liken it to wagammamas as the food is made fresh so you can add or remove ingredients. The food is really healthy and not dripping in sauces. It is mega tasty food at reasonable prices.

Anyone else had a chance to eat there? What did you think?

I presume this thread will be merged with the other one but I agree that there should be a new thread for the new eateries that have opened lately, the sticky thread is quite repetitive.
I've gotten take out from aroi about 4 or 5 times now, I agree that it is excellent both in terms of food and staffing. I've sampled from every section of the menu at this stage and it is as good as anything you would get in Dublin in terms of variety and quality, some of the dishes available in the more specialist Dublin ethnic joints on Capel and Parnell streets are probably better but their is great variety in Aroi, for anyone who hasn't been the Pad Thai and Pad se-lew are fantastic, the curries are superb, particularly the fish curry. My favourite dish on the planet is the thai soup known as Tom Yum, Aroi does a very good version that is served with a decent portion of noodles. However the stand out dish that I've had so far is the Calimari, it comes with a squid ink sauce(I only know this because I saw it in a review) and it is outstanding. For those less adventurous i'd highly recommend the chicken wings, they are only on one bone which makes them extremely easy to eat.

Between Takichi, Aroi, Kaya and the new Soup café on William street Limerick has suddenly become a very good to have lunch, I'd have settled for any one of them last year, to have all 4 is brilliant.

They deliver?! That's Friday night take away sorted for foreseeable future. Great to see it doing so well

have got to second third and fourth the above

between that and Takichi Im finished with heavy Chinese food for ever

Seems almost strange to have two really good restaurants open in Limerick in the last few months. I hope they last

I didnt think it was *all* that - it was nice but nothing amazing. A tad overpriced. I much prefer Takichi.

Got the calimari as a takeaway last night. Very nice, but didn't fill me at all. I suppose it was only a side, but I thought a €5 was a bit steep. I'll go in and get a sit down feed someday soon though..

Really? A tenner for a main.

Really? A tenner for a main.

When i ate there the portion was quite small in my opinion, even for Asian food.

Hi - resurrect an old thread time - Is this place still good? Looks good from tripadvisor.

Also can you book or is just a walk in place? Was going to head there on monday for some grub around 7pm but can't see on website if they are open.

    Thanks

They're open alright. I went there at 8pm with some friends last Monday and they were busy. I'd advise that you book.

    It's as good as ever.

Definitely book it, its jammed every night of the week!

    Food is still perfect!

My brother dropped me off to collect a takeaway the other night, it was insane busy in there! The one in Cork (that i usually go to) is bigger so it is a bit more placid. The food is really great. Slightly more expensive than a normal Chinese, but miles better. The sides can seem a little mean compared to the main dishes too, but they are being so competitive on the mains that i don't mind a bit.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and they were excellent as ever.

Was there a couple weeks ago, I think it has gone down a bit. Was very disappointed with the food this time. When I booked they asked if we could be gone by 1 hour and half, ok, they are incredibly busy. I got my usual lotus salad and fish for main. The lotus salad was greasy, overcooked and tasted stale, I couldn't eat it. When I mentioned it to the server she made a whopping deal and asked me twice to explain 'exactly' what was wrong with it and what I wanted her to do about it. I told her I have got it and enjoyed it loads of times but this was completely inedible. She then went to the door of the kitchen at the side and called out a few people to discuss it and were pointing over at me. My friends couldn't believe the drama she made about it. All felt a bit rushed because they have got so busy. Have been going to Kaya instead since much better service and the food is fab.

The service in Kaya is awful. Their food is class though, to be fair.

Aroi is fantastic. Easily one of my favourite spots in town.

Agree with that. Food in kaya is nice and good value but some of the staff could do with an attitude transplant. Have noticed it a few times.

The food is Aroi is great I would definitely recommend it. We've eaten there loads of times since they opened we just keep going back. I would adivse you make a reservation as otherwise you may have to wait a while for a table. They also do takeaway which is also great.

so glad you said that. went to Kaya twice and had same waitress both times ans she was so RUDE I have not gone back. Want to put a good word in for Amber by the Locke bar. Mains 10 euro at night. Excellent food and value

Aroi is so good and consistent from Day1. Take away is brilliant, packaging and presentation is so ahead of any competitor

    Portions are so generous

Just shows the importance of good front of house staff, bad staff easiest way to drive away customers no matter how good the food is. Can't understand how so many get that wrong.

I go there lots, and I think it's great, but I'd disagree about the portions.

It doesn't bother me though as I think we tend to eat more than we need anyway, and for €10 one can't really grumble too much.

I was there last Friday, and I'm going again in a few minutes. Tiz great tack.

I do agree with previous posts. Aroi - great food and really nice staff. Last time I asked for extremely spicy soup last time, an enhanced version. They brought it to me and said "this is dangerous". It looked like the chef put all chillies he got at the moment into my bowl. Appreciated!

I have also been to the new Japanese&Thai restaurant on the corner of Henry St and Bedford Row. Very pleasant staff and reeeealy great value for money food. Fully recommend!

Clover? I wouldn't rate it so highly.

Waitress wasn't sure of some dishes when we asked about them, we had to prompt her to check with the kitchen for us. One of four main courses was delayed, the other three had nearly finished before the 4th one arrived. No apologies.

Quality of the food wasn't as good as Taikichi.
