Couple of facts to correct some of the bullcrap here:

Trump's own people organised and paid for the reception in Shannon. They also asked for Noonan to be there. He was worse to attend, but felt obliged to look like he was interested in someone who was going to create jobs.

IF and its a big if, he invests the type of money he says he will in Doonbeg, which has btw been renamed "Trump International Resort Ireland" (all the signs have bern changed recently) it will change the area for the better: The course there is under threat from erosion, - it was never quite a top tier course anyway, and without serious investment will just die away slowly. Most of the guests I've brought there last year and this year didn't even play the course, just stayed at the lodge.

The village of Doonbeg has two good places to eat, and one busy pub thanks entirely to the resort. If the resort goes, it'll be like the neighbouring village of Cree within two years ie closed.
There are about 100 people mostly local who work in the resort at present, without the investment of someone like Trump, assh*le or not, they'll be either on the dole or living somewhere else because without serious investment, the resort WILL close as sure asnight follows day. There are plenty of other resorts better placed in Ireland to take the business.

As for bullying out locals: Dont mske me laugh, - the only local within an asses roar of the place is the guy who sold the land originally. He might get another lump for his b&b if Trump wants him out.

I dont even come from the same county, - but I know the resort and the area well, and I can see with my own eyes (no axe to grind here) that without Trump, or someone like him, Doonbeg, and I mean the area will be tumbleweed.

First thing I thought of when I saw the headline in the paper today. Take a look at the documentary "You've Been Trumped" sometime if you want to see exactly what he thinks of the local environment and local population of one of his resorts...

Saw it tonight on RTÉ 1.

    What a wanker.
I hope the people of Clare take a similar stance to that of the Scottish people. What I hated most in that documentary was when that rich yankee wanker was talkin about gettin rid of the houses from the view of his proposed golf course and almost jokingly stated that nobody would have a problem with it apart from the people living in them.

Siúl leat, siúl leat, le dóchas i do chroí, is ní shiúlfaidh tú i d'aonar go deo.

The same country that's now ****ting bricks because a country and western singer is throwing his toys out of the pram and demanding five concerts or none? Sad to say, they'll probably hand Trump whatever he wants, and the local people will be told to pound sand....

Saw the documentary. He really is an unlikable arsehole.

What's the story in Aberdeenshire now? Has the project been abandoned as we last saw it in the doc? Scottish parliament has a lot to answer for.

He's since completed 1 of the golf courses, the other is being held up by a windfarm project that is planned for the sea next to the courses. He claims it will be an eyesore and has threatened to pull out if the windfarms go ahead.

Was reading an article and came across this quote from Michael Forbes, he was was the main guy affected by Trumps plans in the documentary. He was a bit unsure generally about windfarms before this.

“If it pisses off Trump, I'm for it all the way,” :pac:

    That documentary

[Pointing at houses he doesn't own]
"I want to get rid of that house"

    Eh, hello Donald there's a camera's recording?

Maybe he was quote mined or maybe he was just referring to putting up an artificial dune to block the view of the house from the golf course. But given his track record and what occurred to the confines of that house even if it was a quote mine he probably still intended it anyway.

I must read up more about it. The rightful owner of the land was disputed but the doc never mentioned if it went to court or not.

The documentary painted trump in a shameful light however it reminded me very much of the pipe film re corrib gas.
Being local to the corrib saga, we found the pipe to be very one sided and knowing the characters involved, what could look like garda brutality was in most cases not so - when known off camera behaviour was considered.
While there is no doubt that trump is an ass and his comments about the guy that was living like a pig is the craziest thing I've ever heard, I think we were given a very one sided picture in that film. I have a feeling that the film crew were causing alot more trouble than they showed us. The cop didn't just aggressively arrest him for no reason.

two wrongs dont make a right.....besides, i dont believe there was a reason for his arrest, because they are usually meant to state it their and then, especially when being repeatedly asked to do so

He was like a cartoon baddie!

Docu only showed one side but I am happy to conclude that Trump is not a sensitive individual. Doonbeg is his - he bought it fair and square on the open market but we'll have to watch him like a hawk.

He begins doing things legally. Once he had a foothold in Balmedie he bribed coerced and intimidated until he got what he wanted, at the expense of powerless local people who lived there for generations. Ireland would be mad to engage with this bully.

Wow what a man, and to think nobody gave him a doctorate in "Comb-Over Hair Technology"
I would just like to quote Mr Trump, "Give that man a Job"
Looking forward to learning in Doonbeg how he managed to sweep his yellowish pony tail over his baldy head, from one baldy to another!

Oh forgot to say, the scotish people will witness what the west Clare irish will do to him,

We'll take his dollars, clap him on his back and toast his sorry ass as we spend his 15 million dollars for a pile of sand over looking New York in the distance.

He cry looking out in the alantic of the millions of dollars wasted in Ireland, sure did you not see the sneaky grin from Michael Noonan at Shannon airport, he was wringing his hands in delight of getting him in on the tax loop. The irish will skin him

Ha...but he will more likely flog it off in a few years for for a healthy profit, being the spiv and speculator developer he is.

    ...skin him indeed......lol

Who was his Irish site manager in Scotland? He treated the reporter very badly, couldn't believe the arrogance of the chap - he would have been a perfect candidate for Ryanair P.R.

The fellas name was given early on in the documentary. The company he works for or owns is solgolfconst.com based in Cork.

Named as a frank admission of his true nature apparently.

I was gonna thank that post, then I couldn't see a thanks button, then I looked across. I still lolled. :D

Anyone watch the A dangerous game documentary on rte last night? The follow up to You've been trumped. What an eye opener, unbelievable what is happening in Dubrovnik. Hopefully doonbeg will be a better outcome. Special mention to our finance minister at the end of the documentary.

Listened to Brenda Power freaking out on George Hook's show about Trump's apparent sexual assault of women.

Can anyone tell me what exactly about Trump's "locker room" revelations constitutes sexual assault?

I think there are ten women who have come forward alleging sexual assault, so I'm guessing that Power was referring to this rather than specifically the lock room talk.

    But you knew that.

No she wasn't. She was referring to what he said about approaching women and grabbing them by the pu$$y.

My question is, if they all let him as he alleges, where is the assault?

    *sigh*

You can let somebody do something against your wishes for all sorts of reasons.

Trump boasted about assaulting women, then women start coming forward and telling their side. Pretty open and shut isn't it?

Trump is a narcissistic racist loser, and hopefully this will be the last we hear from him and his freak show family for a long time.

You mightnt wish to get crucified but you might think your father in heaven wanted you to be crucified to show that you were obedient and that your death would free human beings from sin and death. Ring a bell?

"Yeah, that’s her, with the gold. I’ve got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. I just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."

    Then he said

    "Unidentified voice: Whatever you want.

Trump: Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."

It's not trump saying I would like to grab her by the pussy it is him saying he actually kisses people and he does what he wants because of who he is. We have to take his words for what they are and he describes actions that he has done. The 10 women come forward and say he did exactly that to them including at least one saying he gave her a tic tac and then kissed her

The other Donald Trump thread was closed for a myriad of reasons. Resurrecting an old one won't change that.

There's plenty of discussion on Trump over in the Politics snd Politics Cafe forums if you'd like to join them. Thanks.
