With Hynes shoes gone, I'm wondering if there are any others around town who stock the brands they carried - ones like Eco, Reiker, Gabour - or others that are wide-fitting and comfortable and ideally take custom orthotics.

Looked in Foot Solutions today, but the prices are horrendous for shoes that, to my eye, looked like they'd wear out quickly as well as being ugly.

Friendly, competent staff would be a plus, too, but that's 3rd priority on my list.

I'm sure Logue's on shop street would stock them.

The staff in Premoli can be very helpful if you get the right people. My mum swears by their "comfortable" shoes.

Logue;s stock my favorite brand Ecco. Bought another pair there recently. As you say they are wide fitting and fit like a glove and last for years. They might have your other brands too.

    Can confirm.

Just bought Rieker shoes there. Also have Ecco shoes in stock. Nice staff.

Logues bought Hynes at a public auction last Friday.

Zerep will be reopening at a smaller shop later this summer.

    The building? Or the business?

I formed some unpleasant thoughts about Logues based on customer (non)service received there a few years back, and vowed never to darken their door again. May have to eat my words though, depending on what I can find elsewhere.

Hynes closed down and the landlord put the building up for sale.
Therefore Logues must've bought the building as it was a property auction.

One of my mates as at the auction. It was on for the whole day.
He was there there for a gawk.

Ahh, I didn't know it was a property auction.

Hynes was placed in voluntary receivership. There would be value in the brand, at least, and possibly in their stock (which was very carefully removed from the city-centre shop, at least) and other assets.

Interesting that Logues should have bought that particular shop. Not nearly as good a location as their current shop. But it has existing planning to be retail / storage only - all the other shops in the area were required to have accommodation above, so I guess that's valuable to them.
