Salary Expectations

I'm a Java developer in a Dublin finance company with 2.5 years experience in the role and a further 7 months experience in a support role in the same company before I became a Java developer.

I have in-depth knowledge about different applications (legacy and new) as well as being the one of only two developers (out of about 40) who are technically proficient with a particular enterprise piece of kit which we were using for one of our projects (The company invested about 20k in training for us on this). The software we build as part of the project I've been working on for the duration of time is responsible for routing tens of billions of euros every year (growing at about 50% year on year) also, so it's fairly critical to the business operation. Again, I'm one of two developers working on this project.

My question is how much should I expect to be able to use this information to increase my salary during my next salary review?

For someone who has 2.5 - 3 years development experience given a history described above what kind of salary would you expect, from your experiences?

Would even like to open this up to a discussion about what kind of salary progression you would expect through out your career in Ireland as a developer.

If you joined as a graduate then you are going to be paid less then if you joined as a new hire.

My old company also spent a fair amount of money on me training me up (3 months training course with outside training company) and after that I was working on a application that dealt with £25m worth of trades a day. I was paid buttons only way I saw to up my salary was to jump ship.

http://www.morganmckinley.ie/article/it-2014-salary-benefits-guide If you look up Java developer there you will see the going rate which you should be near is €40k.

My advise would be is to print off these salary surveys and bring them into your review and say "this is the going rate of someone with my experience and I would like to be on the same".
