Super can't grant unless you provide a reason to own it. .30 centerfire will have to be deer or target, if you don't do either you won't get it.

That's odd. As any shooter will tell you, both the .308Win AND the .300 Win mag shoot the same diameter bullet. The difference is that the .300 Win Mag can and does shoot a heavier bullet, harder and faster and very much noisier. Mods on a .300 Win Mag have a VERY hard life indeed. Without a mod, the noise is HUGE, especially for anybody nearby. Ask anybody unfortunate enough to have been off to one side of a .300WM shooter on a target range. Nobody in their right mind would be anywhere near if he could help it.

There are a couple of other differences, too -

    1. The .308Win shoots a 175gr bullet at 2645 fps with a resultant muzzle energy of 2720 ft lbs.

    2. The .300 Win mag shoots a 180gr bullet at 3146 fps with a resultant muzzle energy of 3972 ft lbs.

Smaller doesn't necessarily mean what it says on the box - all of the so-called .30 cals, including such diverse calibres as the 7.5x55 Swiss and the .30-06 Springfield, actually shoot a .308 diameter bullet.

There is also the little matter of cost - .308Win is comparatively cheap, unless you buy Norma or Lapua.

There is no such thing as a cheap .300 Win mag cartridge, no matter who makes it.

Unfortunately AGS don't see it that way! If I was to get a rifle with a pistol cartridge that had a bore bigger than .308 then it would be restricted! Yet in their eyes a .300 win mag or even a .300 or 7mm Rum is unrestricted and a smaller calibre than a .308! Madness!
