    Confirmed by team as:

    Tinkoff Saxo ‏@tinkoff_saxo 9m
Now, finally official: #Tinkoff_Saxo's Majka lost 49 seconds on today's chaotic #Giro stage. However, Roche lost 15 minutes.

Only 8 riders were in the first group. 3 Katusha riders gone to hospital including Purito, Arredono finished 18mins down, and Majka was hurt in the crash too, so I'm assuming Roche came down in the crash, as they (Saxo,Katusha, Trek) were all at the front at the time.

According to results on http://www.procyclingstats.com/race/Giro_d_Italia_2014_Stage_6_Montecassino there was a group of about 30 riders came in 15 minutes down.

There's a pic on twitter with Nico rolling up (@inrng) to an ambulance looking fairly battered. He took a nasty fall by the looks of things

    edit> there is the photo

Yeah, seriously nasty on their end. Wonder what actually happened to cause the crash.

Surely footage of the crash will emerge? Strange for no camera to see it.

It looked like multiple crashes happening simultaneously so some might have been missed.

On another note now that Cadel is a bit ahead in regards GC hopefully there'll be some good attacks coming up to close the gap from the other GC contenders...

Ahhhh **** it. At least McCarthy and Rovny stuck with him in that last group. Awful day all around, hate seeing so many riders injured. Poor Brajkovic has no bloody luck.

Swifty was last over the line, he must've had a bad knock too.

Maybe he had to wait for bike. In all that chaos it's easy to lose a lot of time.

Well he had a lot of teammates who finished ahead of him who could have given him a bike

Didn't see the "main" crash at the roundabout but the smaller crash just prior looked like it was a greasy road, probably a mix of water & oil. If you look carefully you'll see a rider go through with a "wobble" but recover just before the guy behind hits the deck. After that it is the domino effect in the minor crash.

The edge of the road also looked fairly rough but they seemed to be in from it a bit.

brajkovic broken elbow apparently. Awful day.

Looked like riders were aquaplaning all over the place just before the big crash, all it would have taken was one rider near the front to fall and everyone came down.

Quintana is still less than 2 minutes down, he isn't going to panic yet. If he is stronger than Evans in the final week he will make that up.

Edit: Basso, Quintana (Knee), Majka all involved in the crash too.

    Early days

    Evans
    Urán +57"
    Majka +1'04"
    Basso +1'45"
    Quintana +1'47"
    Pozzovivo +1'50"
    Scarponi +2'07"”

I have no problem with Cadel winning, but I just hope that crash isn't what decides it.
