Coffee and Tea - Bargains thread

On some of the other forums (like the Athletics thread), there's a Bargains thread (typically sticky'ed) for contributors to post bargains they happen to come across (but aren't necessarily interested in themselves). Seems like it would be a good idea for this forum, if one doesn't exist already.

Here's an example (to get the ball rolling):

    24 hours only: De'Longhi ECAM 23.420 SB Bean to cup machine - €369 + €20.99 postage = €389.99
    Available from Cyberport.de.
    Pricing Comparison: £585 on Amazon.co.uk, €456 (reduced from €699) on Amazon.de

I have used Cyberport in the past (for technology purchases) and they've been faultless. Don't know anything about the machine in question I'm afraid, but may suit someone looking for a bean to cup solution.

It's a good idea alright, presume we can put coffee on here too, this is on-going but I think one of the best deals out there:

    http://www.bailiescoffee.com/collections/starter-packs/products/espresso-starter-pack

Espresso starter pack, essentially 2x250g of espresso blend for £8.

There's also a filter version for £9. It's a bit of pot luck on which bag you get but a good deal all the same.

    Spotted via Bargain Alerts:

Delonghi ESAM04.110.S down to £199 on Amazon - could not see much difference between it and the ESAM 4200 which had been around the same price previously, but I prefer the asthetics a bit I guess

Finally took the plunge myself so looking forward to the postman arriving :)

A great deal, considering it includes (prompt) postage - I got it within a couple of days. Does anyone know can you only use it once, or will they allow you buy another starter pack?

I've ordered it many times, both the filter and espresso starter packs.

    Hey all,

I've recently updated my ios coffee timer app, http://coffeeclockapp.com/ and I've a few copies to give away.
Goto http://tokn.co/campaign/szfsyn7p and you should be able to redeem a code while they're still available.

    Any feedback appreciated!

£20 now, but £5.10 delivery, plus you will need to use Parcel Motel so add another €3.50 to that price.

May take a trip to Tesco.

  • Registered Users Posts: 471 ✭✭raytaxi

Amazon have it as well for £26.39 free delivery but says may take 2-3 weeks and price increases with irish vat, think its still cheaper than parcel motel though.

Amazon have it for £20.50 again so just add something to the basket to bring it over £25 for free delivery.

I ordered the wrong pack , I wanted filter and tried to change it but it was too late, already shipped before they got to my email.

Apologies but your order has been shipped. What I will say is that we wouldn’t really advise that you use an espresso in a filter machine. Although we offer the option due to personal preference it is something we advise you don’t do. Can you still use this coffee?

I guess I ought to make sure I've had a coffee before ordering online next time, lol ;)

What brew method are you using and are you grinding yourself?

    Should be OK I'd imagine.

I have a grinder but haven't used it much of late.

I just use a regular ole coffeemaker.

I might just try to give it away as a gift.

If you grind the espresso beans to the correct fineness it should be fine through your machine. Worth a go at least..

Nah, I have a lot of birthdays coming up and I'm hoping I can offload this onto someone, lol. Thanks anyways.

    How is it?

It's fine I guess, you key in the temp you want, ( you can only go in 5 degree increments) and it heats it to that temp. There's a display telling you what temperature the water is at and there's a feature to keep the water at that temperature for a period of time (up to 40 mins).

At the tend of the day it's still a kettle, but not too bad for £20.

That Bailies deal is great value with free postage on 2 bags of coffee. Great to see they have roast dates now listed for their single origin range. Ordered 2 bags earlier this week and they were delivered in 2 days! Just placed another order as it looks like did a roast on the 26th of both the Ethiopian and a washed red bourbon from Rwanda.

Not sure if this is a bargain or more of a lifehack(?), but... I was in ALDI yesterday, and they're selling small bamboo boxes (ostensibly packaged as cotton bud holders) for €5. Add in an M10 x 120mm bolt from Woodies, a quick drill, and you've got yourself a grand looking very functional lidded knock-box, for €6.29. Was getting tired or rooting through the dustbin for that tiny black piece of plastic from the a gaggia classic. Very sturdy.

Nice one, I presume you will bulk buy and start a small business yourself selling these for about €40?
