I think i read on one of the greenway facebook pages that they are going to have wardens on it before the end of the year dont know how true that is though, the number one reason why people litter is because nothing it going to be done to them temp cctv and fines will not stop anyone, how many fines have you seen people get for not cleaning up after their dog?

If they can afford wardens then they can afford to empty waste bins.

Why not train the dog to crap in the Owners garden before bringing them to the Greenway?

It's fully open. There won't be any more closures or detours.

I was out past Kilmeaden today and while it was open there is a lot work going on,about 2km past the train station up to Kildermody underpass its actually a building site, heavy machinery dumper trucks lorries vans excavators all driving up and down, the path was blocked for me on two occasions, the bridge/underpass just before the road underpass i had to to be escorted through by a worker navigating a small space between a 40ft lorry with a crane on it and a forklift, the surface is not finished its basically a dirt track.

Whoever made the decision to open this early should be sacked its that bad, after all the national and even international media attention this got 2 weeks ago its embarrassing to have people use it the way it is.

It comes to something when CoCo's get as bad as software companies releasing products before they are ready.

Will Greenway 1.1 be an improvement on Greenway 1.0 or will is just be the same old version 1.0 with added dog **** ;)

I doubt having someone cycle a trailer down each area of the park once a day and remove cans of poo is going to break the bank.

It'll cost the wages to employee somebody 7 days a week, actually you'd likely need two people as you can't expect anybody to work 7 days in a row. You'd then have to ensure they get holiday pay and all usual employee benefits.

So weekly wages, a bike and suitable trailer, storage and maintenance for the bike, trailer and spare bins. Oh and of course the bins, cleaning and maintaining the bins.

Costs more then you think ;)
If they can afford wardens then they can afford to empty waste bins.

Council already employee's litter wardens, they are not specific to any specific area and they move around. :)
And being realistic, people walking dogs are not going to walk for an hour and a half (my typical dog walk time when I did such walks) holding a bag of poo.

I've a dog, on the opening of the greenway I walked 7 miles of it with the dog. I cleaned up after the dog and made sure to properly bin the poo later. It's not a big deal to do this, its called being a reasonable and considerate dog owner.

Honestly, I'm not seeing the big deal here.
If you see this as a big deal then please never go walking up mountains, I rather you don't litter them because you see it as a big deal to bring the litter back with you!
By the same token, some of the bags may have been left at the side of the road for later collection on the way back.

Indeed, I'd agree, "some" might have. I've done this myself some times when walking.

However I've spotted the same bags (several of them) around Clonea and around Kilmac over several weeks. So unless the person is walking around Ireland I don't think they'll be back to collect them anytime soon :D

One of them around Kilmac is hanging off a three branch a good 8 feet above the ground at the side of the greenway.

Agreed and it's good that you do that. Plenty of others too. But there are also significant numbers who won't and they're everywhere. No reason to think that they won't appear on this greenway in time.

There are two types that I see. The first studiously ignore the dog, deliberately not noticing that the dog is taking a ****e. The second pretend to do something about it. They'll stop and pat their pockets while looking around them to see if they're being watched. They try to give the impression that they have a bag. Observe for another moment and they'll cease the pretense and walk on, leaving the jobby where it lies.

Still same, bridges have metal sheeting, mt congreve and kilmeaden both had working diggers on them yesterday. Lot of big loose chippings and someone is going to get hit with one.

Saw few dog sh*te bags thrown into the ditches and quite a few emtpy bottles of water thrown about

Even if you zoom in to max it does not show where the access is?

Walton Park in Dungarvan is the start/end of the greenway. On the Waterford City side the greenway for the moment has its start/end is in bilberry. You can get access from taking a left at the bottom of Quarry Road.

Can't help with a map link, but as far as I know access isn't open properly at Bilberry yet.

Main access from the city is out at the WIT Arena, Carriganore. There's a free car park next to the Greenway access point, but be aware that you have to go across some uneven surfaces & down quite a steep hill to get on to the actual greenway from there. It is absolutely fine for bikes, buggies, scooters etc
    though.

Donal Jacob is running his bike hire business from the WIT Arena location. He has a couple of photos of his business location on his facebook page. Maybe if you looked at his page you might be able to get a better idea of where to go. His page is https://www.facebook.com/Greenway-Waterford-Bike-Hire-288706771278273/ By the way, I have no affiliation with Donal, just trying to point you in the right direction!
    Hope this helps.

Look quite proper to me last weekend.
    Parking all tarmac'ed.
Full with cars and a Transit van with a huge trailer full of bikes on.

And from there to WIT Carriganore you've 3.5 km of tarmac.

    Apologies Beazee,
I had heard that it wasn't officially open yet. Great that the car park is up & running as parking was an issue there for the past while. As you say, once you gain access at Bilberry there's a great smooth tarmac surface on the Greenway
for a good few kms. I must get down & have a look over the weekend, now that I know the car park is open.

Its not officially open but you can still use it as far as i know the WIT campus is the official entrance from the city

    Whats the riot act?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riot_Act
Our sovereign lord the King chargeth and commandeth all persons, being assembled, immediately to disperse themselves, and peaceably to depart to their habitations, or to their lawful business, upon the pains contained in the act made in the first year of King George, for preventing tumults and riotous assemblies. God save the King.
