Hmmmm should the leaving cert really be stressful like English paper 2 was yesterday? Should we really have to cram and memorise irrelevant information like geography today? Where is the benefit apart from a college course at the end? A significant benefit albeit, but should zombifying yourself for weeks/months/years through this really be the route to college? Or education in general?
I simply never want to hear the word leaving cert again after august..what a horrible experience.
Now,if you don't mind,I'm gonna go on a jog....and time myself using complex numbers....they will make it easier.

This year and particularly the time since school ended until now has honestly been one of the worst and least enjoyable times of my life.

Yep, and nothings compulsory.... although I think the 3 subject thing is a bit of a joke, I like the idea of not having to do anything I dont want to

I think there should be choices within English, say you could do Film Studies instead of Poetry, or if you're a real blasphemer you could drop Shakespeare to take up Creative Writing or something. The English course isn't great atm to be fair.

Maths should be left the way it is imo, you should be allowed drop Irish after the JC.

Yeah I like the Idea of splitting english up, pretty sure they do that in england, you can take english literature, or spanish literature
And you can so psychology and sociology as subjects for A levels

Philosophy instead of religion, communication instead of English theory, creative arts and poetry, accounting instead of project maths,it goes on...I just feel that it's too "machine" based, they should make int practical and add a more creative aspect...
Different things suit different people however...

Every system has its flaws, I actually think the leaving cert does what it's supposed to do quite well.

England's system is a joke compared to ours, they do like 3 subjects....

Doing 7 subjects is completely ridiculous. Atleast if you do 3 you get to try and focus on them and do well in them. Trying to balance study between 7 subjects is the hardest thing. And some subjects have so many subsections (orals, aurals, pracitcals) and English sometimes feels more like 3 or four subjects between Paper one, poetry, Macbeth and comparative. Its so overwhelming i want to escape to a remote brazilian island and live in education free paradise whos with me

    Philosophy instead of religion
    .

Perfect. I genuinely love that idea. Get rid of outdated mumbo jumbo and let people be spiritual by asking themselves the questions that are fundamentally at the heart of religion.

I think Politics should be a topic aswell. CSPE does nowt to inform people of what goes on to run a country.

Do you hope you'll never see one again? Well, "hope is the thing with feathers, that perches on the soul, and sings the tune without the words and never stops at all.".

YES! Imagine how disappointed with poetry I was when my teacher first covered Yeats, Heaney and Kinsella.. And then Dickinson came and reminded me there's still hope..:p
