    I actually want to do the lower points course. And there's no way I'll get 530 points without having studied unfortunately but I'm okay with that now.

    Hi all, just to clarify the difference between General Vision and Viewpoint (GVV) and Cultural Context (CC) for people.. GVV is all about the viewpoint of the author, the perception the author had of the world the text is set in. So was it in GENERAL melancholy or joyous, light or dark? To support your answer you could compare key scenes, endings, key actions taken by characters etc. GVV also encompasses the author's view of the characters he/she creates and how these characters are a vehicle for the authors message. Now, CC on the other hand is more to do with society. Things such as morals, what's right and what's wrong, societal taboos, social divide/conflict, religion, the role of family/women/men. It's really a discussion of how the text explores culture. And one key thing to remember for all the modes of comparison is this: keep saying words like similarly, in juxtaposition.. etc. and remember contrasts are valid too.. i.e. where the texts differ!

    Knew I meant to ask something, for the comparative do you have to use key moments to compare the texts? I think for CC it would be so much easier to talk about the worlds of each text in general and then just give examples from each text to illustrate your point, is that okay?

    Decided the exact same thing recently. Going to do an arts degree and then do a post grad if I still want to go into the area. I hope I achieve over 460 but 520 for me was just too high. SUCH RELIEF.

    me too! I dont even know what to study anymorwe even though I have so much left to study...Ive kind of lost inetrest in studying tbh just want to get it over with :pac:

    I've been reading over short stories and notes for P1 on writing styles and language and whatnot, and now I'm powering away at the massive pile of quotes that I'm trying to learn :o

    Once Thursday is over I'll be so happy :D

    For paper two, does this seem reasonably prepared?

    For Macbeth I know LadyM and Macbeth in massive detail, have a good knowledge of Banquo, vague knowledge of Macduff, good knowledge of the Banquet Scene, appearance vs reality and evil

    For poetry I know Dickinson, Larkin and Kinsella in detail, and Yeats reasonably well, and would be able to produce a 'meh' essay on Bishop

    For comparative I know GVV in detail, and have an ok knowledge of CC

    Is that enough? :o

    50 isn't that many :o I have around 50. But I've got nothing for poetry yet..

    While yous are on the subject of Macbeth and quotes, is any one else's Macbeth quotes mostly from Acts 1 - 3?

    Could you write about children's role in society for cultural context? Our teacher spent like 2 days on CC so I don't have a clue what to do for it really :pac:
