So any of you bring a drink with you on a training run? I'll be upping my distance over the next while and was wondering if I should bring a drink. I run 5.5k at the minuteso don't need one.

I think a 20-25 minute run shouldn't require a drink if you feel hydrated when you start. Longer runs like 40-50 minutes may require some intake. Not that much. There's no exact rule, but they recommend 500 ml of fluid per hr of running. Of course, pace and distance and general health need to be looked at.

How disappointing, I thought this thread was going to be about stopping in for a quick half on a long run.

Yeah, I hate carrying a water bottle but it's a necessary evil at times. If doing a few laps of a park or whatever I'll stash it and drink from it every lap or else maybe bring 2euro and buy some en route.

I only really bother with it when running 10 miles or more.

EDIT: Recently bought one of these but haven't used it yet.

Depends on the conditions but in cooler temps over the winter and early spring I regularly ran 20 miles with no water and was fine. I would say that there shouldn't be much need for water for anything under an hour.

A 10 mile run is probably 3 months away for me. I like the look of those though.
