As if these people posting heir made up stories here care less about your grandmother. They are the type of people who wish heroic, brave men like Padraig Nally were still in prison.

Better than posting made up, inaccurate, anti traveller bile and rubbish.

Can you direct me to my post where I made up rubbish about travelers?

    C'mon, I need a laugh :pac:

Apart from the fact the first one is likely true, and that joeytheparrot made up a story to counter the good faith post of another user.
Again, why do you have blind faith that one story must be true and another false? Why must only one person (the person you disagree with) show you copies of police reports?

Because he miraculously came up with a rebuttal direct opposite tale to counter the good faith post of another user. It is disgusting, frankly. Not to mention that incarceration rates would suggest there is a 15 times more chance Woodoo was telling the truth than was joeytheparrot.

But again, if he can print us the receipt of contact with the Gardai over the incident, or even tell us where and when it happened, I will apoligise for accusing him.

    But he won't.

    Because it's bollocks.

Have you considered ring Joe Duffy? I mean that's just shockin', ab-so-lutley shockin'!

And you're also demanding Woodoo and willfarmerman come up with evidence to back up their anecdotes?

And again, you're also missing the point that anecdotes are meaningless.

    .

    No.

Because incarceration statistics would suggest that those two guys are 15 times more likely to be telling the truth than joeytheparrot is.

Does it make you feel warm inside, scoring points over willthefarmermans thrice burgled elderly grandmother? Or the handful of old country men tied up and beaten to death in burglaries in the last 20 years?

    Repugnant.

The simple truth is that their anecdotes, whether true or false, back up your steadfast assumptions, and you refuse to question them. And anyone offering counter evidence must be ignored and/or attacked for fear of making you actually think about the facts.

That's what's repugnant. Scoring points through other peoples misery in order to bolster your own opinions, which you'd never consider changing anyway. You're actually using other people for your own gains, and you think Travellers are the badguys?

    Do you believe joeytheparrot?

Of course you don't. But along with Nodin and the recently left Sir Humphrey Appleby, he is on what you might call the protected species list, with free rein to troll to their hearts content on these sort of topics.

I don't care. I have no reason to believe any of the stories. They're all incredibly convenient. But, you blindly believe the ones that support your prejudice. That's what's scary.

I'm sure there are Gardai who are Travellers but I personally don;t know any

David Joyce is not a Garda and a Barrister. He might have qualified as a barrister but his name is not on the Law Library website so where is he practising.

    PREJUDICE.

    As in pre judging.

It's amazing. A few weeks ago I saw this story on the DM

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2625514/Brazen-schoolboy-burglar-12-distracted-elderly-homeowners-gang-raid-homes-steal-cashcards-jewellery.html

Now while in the main photo the boy is wearing what most people would consider to be typical traveler garb, in the photo accompanying the headline on the front page only his pix elated face/ head could be seen.

From the headline alone, before clicking, I think to myself, travelers, without a doubt. Seems like a family affair crime, targets the elderly, I might be wrong but I would still put my house on it.

Well paint me silly, the adult defendants are called Doran and Ward.

Well excuse me for pre judging the cultural background of the perps of a crime in a foreign country in a foreign newspaper based on the modus operandi described in the headline.

The man is a qualified barrister.
You're back must be getting sore from persistently moving the goalposts.
Hope you are not carrying them on the same shoulder as the chip you have, you could do yourself an injury.
Although maybe you are right and the Irish Human Rights Council are liars!

As I said, prejudice. You only want to believe the worst about Travellers and ignore anything that challenges that. And you, of course, are unable to see how this adds to the divide between travellers and the settled community. Instead of realising that both groups need to put in the effort, you kick back and blame the opposition because it's easier. And things will continue to move on as they are. Travellers will still be less inclined to school their children and prison programs that cost you money will be set up to try and educate them. But you'll still only blame them for your being out of pocket.

    Oh for f'uck sake.

How, in the days when we needed to import workers from Poland etc, did they have a near on 90% unemployment rate?

Don't talk this illiteracy barrier balls, there were tonnes of jobs out there that FAS could place them in that required zero literacy. Some of the Poles etc couldn't speak, let alone read, English, and they got work with the assistance of an English speaking friend, yet 90% of travelers couldn't obtain the same with the assistance of a state agency?

Well you'd never employ a traveller, and there's plenty just like you. So again, it's not a one sided affair.

I would certainly be wary, but if he came with references to his character and such, I would, yes.

Yeah, but you wouldn't, would you. You've already said you're happily prejudiced against them, so you're clearly wouldn't hire someone you could never trust.

You remind me a wee bit of Randy Marsh in SP, sitting on his couch claiming his alcoholism is an incurable disease, only you seem to be claiming an aversion to assistance to get employed is an incurable ailment which we should all tolerate and pity.
