Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Gareth Bale proves again he was too good for Spurs.

Aye, tbf, I love Ronaldo, but was no real need to celebrate so much for that goal. Game was already over, and you should be a bit more humble after Atletico put up such a good game for so long

Very messy ending. Ungracious and unsportsmanlike behaviour from both sides at the end.

Got 800/1 for Madrid to win the champions league final in extra time at the start of the season. Chuffed.

    Football.........!

Well a dour first half became a brilliant second and now I can only think Atletico will end up defending for a shoot out and so will lose.

Shudda put some money on that.

Is Pepe the most unlikeable man in football?

Thought it was Marcelo who changed the game. He brought great energy when he came on.
Pity Simeone didnt follow Barca's graciousness in defeat last week.

Delighted to see Rinaldo win it again and Bale getting a goal but the game belongs to Di Maria....

Don't understand all the hate for Ronaldo, he's just scored in a Champions League final, penalty or not he has every right to celebrate.

I'm glad for Real, I thought Atletico were tactically better but they tired in the end and just let it slip. Still, I don't really have any sympathy for them, I thought they behaved detestably. The whole game they were making cynical challenges, being sneaky and Simeone was classless at the end. Ref should have sent him straight to the stands instead of allowing it to blow up.

Record goalscorer in CL (17) and had a hand in getting them to the final you might say... But yeah, he should tone down his celebration since he only scored the fourth goal in the final.... :pac:

Lol at people criticising Ronaldo for celebrating scoring in a Champions league final. I like Atletico but they played hardly any football tonight, even less than they usually do actually.

That was difficult, but can't be too disappointed by what was a great season. Some massive heros in that Atleti team tonight. Gabi, Villa, Miranda and others were fantastic.

I am happy for Ancelotti, class act.

Chuffed certainly is not a strong enough word. How much did you stick on that?

To be honest, if I scored a goal in a CL final for my boyhood club or whatever I'd go a bit mad too.

What do you make of Simeone at the end there?

I thought it was a little justified, he was hard done today and it's good to see a little passion. He overdid it though.

Ronaldo has never been a team player, it's all about him at the end of the day and his over the top celebration proves it.

At Real you never know. :)

Jupp Heynckes won their first Champions League trophy in 32 years back in 1998.

Bad enough final. Athletico didn't show the balls they showed throughout the season. Very much an anti-climax to the tournament in my opinion.

But congrats to G Bale. It's these occassions that I'm sure he dreamed of growing up as a youngster.

I don't think its bitterness. Im delighted for Ronaldo but this ****e of taking your jersey off at every opportunity is getting a bit much. Its like he is taking the limelight off his team and onto himself.

    Fair play Ancelotti.

Only the 2nd manager to win the European Cup 3 times after Bob Paisley.

    Classy manager

    Your boner is showing :P

Its not bitterness from my point of view. I appreciate how good Ronaldo was up to the Final, as will everyone else. The goalscoring record is phenomenal.

The over-celebration, shirt stripping, muscle flexing, screaming in a game that was already over was unwarranted over the top and Mouriniho-esqe in terms of trying to steal the limelight.

I don't think there's any point in trying to over-analyse it. I can only imagine how bad that felt, it's not hard to imagine how easy it is to lose the head in that situation. Really emotional time.

Yeah, he did over-do it, but that's Simeone. You have to take the good with the bad. At least he didn't punch Varane. :P

Simeone runs on to the pitch to confront a player before the match is over and the usuals are up in arms about Ronaldo taking his shirt off after celebrating a goal.

    You've gotta laugh.
