Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Want Athletico to win, but didn't want that to end. Looking forward to the next segment

First 80 minutes were scrappy as feck.

It was definitely very cagey alright. No harm in that though.

You don't have to like it but you have to admire it's effectiveness, it's won them la Liga and got them within 2 minutes of winning the CL

I can see Real going on to win it now though, Atleti put a lot into that 90 minutes

Cowardly Atletico got exactly what they deserved. Lunacy to just let Real come at you for fifteen minutes and hope they keep fluffing chances.

Penalty shoot out; Ronaldo to miss.

Ronaldo to put himself down for the 5th penalty,
He won't get to take it, Athletico to have it won by then

Bales got nothing left at this stage.

    Bale will come good.

Atletico need to get Diego on the pitch

Edit: Wait all subs used up?

Looked like a painful twist to Juanfran ankle. Houghton as usual completely missed it.

Ronaldo is so clearly not fit. He's got cramp and he's done **** all the whole game.

Game opening up a lot...should benefit Real...Athletico have been superbly disciplined apart from last bloody corner.

Starting Costa could cost them dearly now.

Bale isn't even getting the rub of the green

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,592 ✭✭✭brevity

Just on Ramos, never understood people not rating him. Total nutter but a very good player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,736 ✭✭✭Bleating Lamb

Isco has been the difference for Real

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

Ronaldo not fit but still better than their other options

He will want to stay on in case of penalties

Bale not fit either but missing all of those chances is inexcusable

Sort of typical of him in such big games though. If he gets on the end of a chance he'll finish it but he'll do fukk all else.

One word that can never be used to describe this Atleti team.

Ya that horse placenta def wasn't worth it now. Played 10mins and you have to use a sub. They could do with those fresh legs around now

I mean big games on the world stage.

He didn't do much for utd against barca a few years ago either

I mean big games on the world stage.

Which is pretty much the definition of the second leg of a world cup qualifier knock out game...

Lol, yer man on the Atletico bench was playing with his balls there! :D

Yeah, as if it pulls even a tenth of the numbers in terms of viewership that this game does.

Doesn't send confidence to the players doing that if you ask me, will make them more nervous.

Simeone would make a terrific mob boss in a spanish crime drama. He has that look.

Simeone is a bit of a mad hatter

Trying to get his players away from the ref, let himself take the flak

Oh great, the "Ronaldo doesn't do it in the big games" brigade are out again.

What does viewership have to do with anything? As far as pressure goes, it's about as high as it gets. The exact equivalent of Irelands game V France. Massive stakes, massive pressure.

Hes done f**k all but he can still win this game.

If Real lose it Bale will take most of the flak for his missed chances more than Ronaldo will for not playing well......so far anyway.

That's the best thing Ronaldo has done all night.

    Good tracking back.

    EDIT: Bale is the hero.

Oh absolutely, he's done very little, but he's clearly not fit. Bale probably would take more of the blame alright, but he's had a few good chances, even an unfit Ronaldo might have taken one of them I think.
