Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Prime Time Debate, South Constituency, RTÉ 1, Monday 10.40pm

This is the official thread for tonight's debate. Accept no substitutes. ;)

RTÉ have come in for a lot of stick over the format taken for last night's presentation.

And rightly so. I don't often agree with Ronán Mullen but he was dead right to highlight the bias shown in selecting who spoke when last night.

It should have been decided by drawing lots.

I suspect they'll have to stick with the same method tonight rather than be seen to admit they screwed up.

Anyway on to tonight and a mix of strange southern accents and mannerisms from that strange territory that lies south of Portumna !

    Constituency and candidates.

The second debate looked particularly bad.. It looked like the queue outside a methadone clinic..

Looks like Prime Time have taken notice of what Ronan Mullen said last night about panels.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,052 ✭✭✭Un Croissant

    What was that about panels?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 18,184 ✭✭✭✭Lapin

RTÉ sticking with the same format and throwing in a stern disclaimer from the outset that we shouldn't read anything into their method for deciding the line up.

If they did it properly we wouldn't have to.

FG and Labour really are a bunch of heartless b@stards, taking medical cards from the people who need them most and then planning to give them to under 6's as a cheap election stunt. It's backfired on them no end.

It's about the 1,000th time I've heard Phil Prendergast mention she's a nurse

Crowley doesn't need FF, he is a brand in his own right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 802 ✭✭✭Rebel1977

Love to see Brian Crowley run for the dail

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Why doesn't Crowley just go as independent he'd still easily get elected, in fact he'd probably get more votes because people might not vote for him for being FF

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭CountyHurler

Brian Crowley if 50 years old... He could pass for 35..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,052 ✭✭✭Un Croissant

Why doesn't he put FF logo on the top of his page so?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 18,184 ✭✭✭✭Lapin

    Crowley.

    There's the winner.

We can switch over to Vincent now we've seen him.

It's a pity Brian Crowley was prevented from going for the Presidency. He'd make a better President than Michael Twee.

He could pass for a fella trying to get elected to the school Debs committee.

Something strange looking about Crowley, he kind of looks like 17 year old from a movie in the 1980s.

Liadh Ni Riada is very impressive. She'll be getting my vote.

I've never voted for Sinn Fein, but she's been consistently the most impressive speaker throughout the whole campaign. I think I'd prefer to see her in the Dáil though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Ni Riada is very impressive she'd get my number 1 so far, Crowley number 2 the rest nothing.

Christ no! The man's attendance record in the European Parliament is appalling; I accept that he was ill for a while but why he continued to collect his pay cheques instead of stepping aside to someone who could actually do the job is beyond me. Also his decision to reject the Estrela support (as all FF and FG MEPs did) and his anti-choice stance make him someone I very much do not want representing our country in any capacity.

We're lucky to have someone as intelligent and progressive as Michael D. in the Dáil.

Shocked at Sean Kelly , dreadful, nervy, checking notes

Lowry is the epitome of everything that is bad about the Irish political system. To compare Brian Crowley with him is just plain wrong.
