Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Merc A series AMG gets 355 bhp from a 2.0 turbo, that's a road car you can buy and run yourself (if you have €58K to spend on a fwd hatchback).

Certain US civics are getting that All motor on B Series engines, bottle fed allright but turbo variants are getting well over double that , in saying that the merc would be a nicer place to be :D if you like that kinda thing, oh and it would definitely put the power down better

I haven't seen a new Juke on any 13* or 141 plate yet. Are they still selling then? They sold well at the start?

Can we not agree on how gammy this car looks? The same thing happened when the tiida was first seen.

I'm with you, it looks shyte no matter what engine it has and it will only sell to people who regard an Auris as adventurous.

    Im liking the sportier variants

even the JDM Saloon 4 dr is nice

Pity it will be mostly base model poverty spec here

    Honda Civic meets 308 anyone?

    Sorry not for me

    VZR N1 model please!
In the 90's it was NA and 200ps, they should shoot for 250 turbo now. :D

I've seen a fair few Juke Nismos around, I see two in Tallaght regular enough anyway, no reason at all we wouldn't get the 1.6 turbo seeing as we already get it in their two main sellers?

Like how it looks in black and the sportier variants.
Is also ****e talking to say this will be boring when it's basically the new Megane, everyone loves the sporty Meganes.

I don't mean boring it just looking w@nk and nobody buys HOT Jap crap new here let alone French stuff of similar equivalent.

If they did we'd have Renaultspurts and GT86's everywhere, which we should.

    Wasn't really aimed at you!
On the GT86, the price got ducked because of our taxes, I'd say that's what killed sales here.
Plenty of Renault Sport Clios around from back in the day, something happened though and people stopped buying them. :/

Ach I know and I'm not being cranky about it but I do travel a lot to the uk and the amount of both there is pretty impressive. People right buy then as the generation that would isn't there. They're here but uber rarely as they're rarely newly bought in Ireland. I'd love to say I bought something mad and tasty new but I haven't. Motor tax is a fceker, as every petrol* head now is impressed with a diesel or due to some mental affliction aspires to drive one.

As you probably know I've ties in Nissan, I'll try and get a figure on legit sale or you tomorrow.
No doubt they're here and no doubt they're selling though. :)

My girlfriends dad, he's gotten me interview for Nissan in the past but it hasn't worked out. Great for when I need parts and finding out this sorta stuff.

    He's brought home a Nismo Juke and a 370Z as a company car a few times. :D

I almost bought a Nismo Juke when my red vRS got Killed.
Liked it when I sat in it
Hated it when I saw the googly eyes on the wings :(
Was getting a good deal on one.

    Positive answer anyway. :D

    ...
You'd never think they were the same company that made the Skylines, GTR, 200SX etc, stupid bastards.

It's not the same company. Regrettably Renault hold a majority share of Nissan since around 2000 and seem to be hell bent on distroying it one segment at a time.
They now have no Executive range, saloon type family or midrange and the new micra is not doing the biz at all in the mini segment. Their commercials were more expensive than their rebadged sisters although I'm not sure about the new range amd the Navara's engine used to crap itself around 50k requiring a bottom end rebuild or complete replacement. I worked for them when they were propper Nissan and I still drive a 1995 Primera. It's sad to see but its happening to other manufacturers aswell. Watch Toyota over the next few years as Peugeot's influence begins to shine through in quality etc.

The petrol should sell well. The lack of a 6 speed option in the diesel is poor enough form in these times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Some performance figures from the UK. X TRONIC is CVT I'd imagine

    1.2 DiG-T Visia 5d. 10.5 secs 118 mph 113 bhp

    1.2 DiG-T Visia 5d Xtronic 12.3 secs 115 mph 113 bhp

    1.5 dCi Visia 5d 11.1 secs 115 mph 108 bhp

Not sure. To me all you want from there is the 1.5 dci SV

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭Leonard Hofstadter

No a/c on the entry level car is criminal in this day and age. Though Toyota of course are still too stingy to fit it to the Auris and Toyota, and that doesn't seem to have affected them unduly.

SV gives a lot of extra useful stuff for not a lot of extra money.

SVE seems like a waste, yes it's very well equipped but the jump in price is quite steep and I don't think it's as good value as the SV model is.

It will be interesting to see how many people will buy the petrol, it's €1,500 cheaper, has no DMF or DPF to worry about, a bit more power and is only €20 more expensive to tax, but I bet the diesel will take at least 80% of the sales. People have it in their brain that they must have a diesel regardless of whether or not it might be suitable for their needs....

Surely none of this matters because it looks so bad?

Aye but the Tiida came out in Japan 10 years ago, the ugliness gap between today's Pulsar and the competition is similar.

Its already outdated looking and its only launched.

Maybe so, just speaking from my personal view, Tiida always looked terrible and just saw the Pulsar at the ploughing for the 1st time and liked it.

While it's not exactly a looker, and personally I wouldn't be seen dead in one, it's hardly that bad? It's no worse than an Auris or Hyundai i30 really.

It's miles ahead of the Tiida, but that is faint praise, as that certainly was a shocker.

It's still hard to believe this came from the company that made the GT-R or the 370Z.

.... personally I wouldn't be seen dead in one

Between comments like this, the wrong wheel drive posts regarding Audi and the seeming hatred of 4 cyl engines I really am intrigued as to what you drive.

Yet you won't tell me, I think this is my third time asking :pac::pac:

I actually like it. Nissan have really improved their design and interior qualities. Though obviously the Micra is ugly as hell and the Leaf needs a refresh. But the interior in the Pulsar is not bad at all, I certainly wouldn't mind sitting in it. And it's not bad to look at from the outside. Yeah I drive a MK II prius so it would be nicer for me to hop into apart from the Diesel perhaps.

I was impressed sitting in the new Quashqai , it's not a bad place to sit at all !

I bet the pulsar will get the usual low powered Renault Diesels ?

Probably won't sell anything over 90 hp 1.5 DCI in Ireland !

I sat into one of these new Pulsars at the ploughing last week.

Its no style icon - but it looked far more agreeable in the flesh then I was expecting from the pictures.

Driving position is probably one of the best ive ever found in a modern car - and its not a bad place to sit.

Early reviews make them out to be pretty ordinary to drive however

Was it the bog spec with bog interior ?

Nothing wrong with ordinary to drive really. As long as it has a decent bit of power and soaks up the rough roads without being a barge I'd be happy.

I thought it was one of the normal spec models when I sat in it - but I didn't actually check what I was in.

Was too busy being impressed to sit in a modern hatchback and get a nice driving position.

The interior looks poor enough but I don't mind the exterior. It is bland and slightly dated but not as bland as say a Golf. The Golf has a better interior though.
