Clare County Council Boycotting Clare Champion?

Phoenix magazine carries a lengthy report on the alleged advertising boycott by Clare Co.Council on the Clare Champion in response to the paper reporting of asbestos dumping by the council in the west of the county.
It reports that county manager Tom Coughlan wrote to the editor about the articles, and that since the end of March " all local authority notices and advertising...suddenly ceased".
If this is true, I think the county council has many questions to answer.

It seems that the council were trying to encourage the Champion not to dig too deeply. Council certainly won't like this type of adverse publicity. If Prime Time are on the case it could get even more interesting

What happened to the enquiry team which was going to report on who was culpable for this expensive fiasco? The asbestos is still in situ covered with silage plastic despite a specialist company being employed for weeks making shapes at removing it. It needs a couple of Clare Champions and Phoenixes to expose the criminal waste of money. Total estimated costs to remove asbestos from seven sites in West Clare = €3 million.

Unfortunately the Council have a good relationship with all the local press. I didn't realise that Clare County Council were that corrupt.

I hope Prime Time picks it up and runs with it. This is not only disgraceful for the CCC, its illegal. If any members on the council do not speak up against this, I would deem them just as culpable, even if they were not in office when the fiasco began, as now they are inheriting it and have to change course, or they are just as bad as their predecessors.

The boycott of the Clare Champion seems to be over, at least there are official council ads reappearing. That doesn't take away from the asbestos dumps.

its good to see the adds/notices back, providing its not at the expense of investigative reporting! now that would be worrying.
