Hopefully Roche is conserving energy staying down the back and is not suffering already once it hits the 13 and 16 percent parts there will only be a small number left who contest the stage, hopefully Nico is there for it

Dunno if Roche can do 16%. He's too heavy. Hope I'm wrong. I'd say Hesjedal group.

Looking good there now, hanging onto Cataldo.

    What's left km wise?

Pierre Roland looks like he's on a club spin in the slow group, cruising

    4.4km to go

    Timmer's up front by himself

At 36 seconds, Roche, Cataldo, Cataneo

At ??? seconds, Hesjedal and Rolland group

At ??? seconds, another break group with Pirazzi and other non-GC ridres

at 4'30, Pink jersey group with all the other GC riders

    I think

Hesjedal group is at 3'31 according to eurosport graphic

    Roches group 36'
Rollands group at 3 mins behind that.
Pink Jersey 45 second behind that.

    Great stage from Nico.

    What a sprint from Battaglin!

A few breakaway riders made the catch, Battaglin wins the sprint and the stage. Nico very close behind them

    Chapeau to Nico.

Unlucky. Just short. Thought he might make it across with 1km to go.

Given how close he was, I think Roche shot himself in the foot with that earlier attack. Very good effort overall though.

A case of what might have been for Roche after wasting the energy on the 2nd last climb.

Still fair play to him 5th in a Giro is nothng to be sniffed at.

    And Wow Majka! Very close.

Super stage. They almost came to a standstill. The hurt on all their faces.

Almost all of the top 10 put time into Uran. Just as I predicted :o

Quintana and Pozzovivo, the strongest looking GC riders, still have minutes to make up on Evans and Uran. Should be more great viewing coming up :)

Nico lost his chance of a stage win in this Giro as now on Makja duty from today onwards and in no breakaways ... although Wednesday stage has possibilities

He wen too early on the attack and he is too heavy ......if only lighter he could have done it

The guys in front of him are so much lighter than him ...8/10 KGs..... he cannot win these type of stages at that weight ......might as well concentrate on hilly stages

Oh well exciting race ...too much to watch to be honest as groups all over the road

Pozzo & Quintana did attack but brought back....need to go earlier
