    Coffee stop for somebody

Think Quintana just went into the back of Izagirre there, stupid of Gorka to stop so suddenly in fairness. This could be a really silly stage..

When cheering on Philip Deignan a few days ago, my 3 year old was asking "Where is Philip gone?"

When I replied I didn't know she very wisely suggested that "maybe he stopped for a drink of water and got lost up that mountain!!!"

    The wisdom of youth!!!

still another climb to go before the finish?

Some riders stopped at the top and that may have been because of the neutralisation

Yep, a slightly smaller but equally steep one. Val Martello, a new one to the Giro

Yeah you could see Quintana didn't stop for a second, nearly knocked Gorka Izagirre off his bike because he wanted to get down the descent so fast. Uran and the others must have stopped for food and jackets. I think Uran should have been more cautious

Hard to see how Quintana & that little group pulled out a 2 minute lead.

In fairness DS probably told riders to stop cos they though it was neutralized

Tinkoff did loads of work for nothing

He should have been marking Quintana and then let one of his domestiques get food/jacket for him.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does neutralized mean in relation to cycling?

Tinkoff probably thought if they brought it all back together then the descent would be neutralised but once Cataldo attacked that ruined everything.

Not sure. Some handy climbers in the chase groups and throw in Cataldo

No racing allowed, the groups ride together behind a car or motorbike, nobody is allowed to pass the vehicle. The vehicles maintain the time gaps as they were.

However in this case, there was way too many different groups for a neutralization to be viable. Ultimately there was no black or red flag, so it never happened. Uran and lots of other riders thought it was neutralized anyway (as they were told it was going to happen on the radio), and stopped to get food and jackets on, and then rode slowly down the hill. Meanwhile, Quintana and Rolland did not stop and attacked down the hill.

RT @tinkoff_saxo: Neutralization of the Stelvio-descent wasn't brought to all team cars. Big confusion #giro pic.twitter.com/cFNZOqHgHt
