    Hi folks,

My partner has his birthday coming up in June and I want to get him some really cool presents as we've had a tough year with family/work/financials etc, most of which is now sorted.

One of the presents I want to get him is a dinner at a Michelin Starred restaurant in Dublin City Centre.

From doing a bit of research, it seems Chapter One is the best value - €70pp for a tasting menu, but I'd be interested in others' opinions on which is the best value Michelin Starred menu in Dublin.

    Thanks a million!

http://www.restaurantpatrickguilbaud.ie/ is near Stephens Green & http://www.locksbrasserie.com/restaurant/ is Portobello so not far away either. Have been to lock s a couple of times and its been superb every time (as you would expect really!!).

Both are excellent, but Guilbaud's is very expensive (worth it, but expensive), and Lock's lost it's star in the last edition of the guide.

If you're prepared to travel a bit, try the Lady Helen restaurant in Mount Juliet golf club. It's truly excellent, and extremely good value.

Sabor Brazil has no place in this thread, and never will have

Have never been to Chapter One, but have heard great things!

Was in Thornton's recently, and wasn't that impressed tbh - food was lovely, but I've had nicer in non-michelin star restaurants. And they messed our bill up twice!

Give me Sabor Vrazil any day :)

Also, Dax is AMAZING - not michelin star but should be IMO!

L'ecrivain restuarant is also another option http://www.lecrivain.com/,

Restaurant Forty One, part of La Residence on Stephens Green doesn't have a Michelin star but the food is fab

The Green House on Dawson St also falls into this category - fine dining but no star (yet).

Haven't been yet, but apparently a lot of people were surprised that the Green House didn't get a star last year.

Save yourself the premium and get a meal in Arch Bistro in Churchtown. Not Michelin starred but in reality not far off.

Has Churchtown been moved to Dublin City Centre?

Id say Guilbaud is ****ting himself reading that menu alright

I've heard good things about this place, but I did hear from a friend that the food is quite pretentious (a lot of those "orange air" and "beetroot foam" jobs) and the actual amount of food on the plate is absolutely tiny for what you pay for.

That wouldn't bother me, but himself really likes to have something substantial to eat and foams and airs and sands and that really wouldn't do it for him.

If you fancy a night or two away, I can't say enough good things about Anair in Galway. Their tasting menu with wine is the best meal I've ever had.

If you're looking for a booking in JUne I'd imagine you'd really struggle to get a table in Chapter One

If you're looking for value go for lunch in any of them - food is just as good as dinner although your choice may be limited.

While the Arches is nice, it really is nothing special. I would recommend L'ecrivan, Guilbauds, The Greenhouse or One Pico. Sabor Brazil also lovely.

Had a great night in Thornton's last weekend, great service and fantastic food

Keep an eye out on the menupages deals, sometimes L'ecrivain tasting menu is half price.

Bon Appetit had a great tasting menu offer on Menupages last week. I think it was 79 for 2 people.

I have a booking for July 10th if anyone here is interested. Dealrush voucher for 100 euro also. I'm unable to make it so just thought I would put it up here for anyone interested!

Apologies. I have a booking for Sabor Brazil on Thursday 10th July. As the waiting list is so long I thought I would offer it up first before cancelling.
