I've two main issues with Hardline firstly out of region players again infesting EU servers but at least this time you only lag against that specific player and not everyone.

Secondly, I'm having ALOT of spawn / being insta killed moments as well meaning I find it hard to keep a positive k/d (never had a negative k/d in any online shooter).

Conquest isn't the best mode to play Hardline thought , it's definitely Hotwire and Heist modes as CQ just is too Battlefield and this game is the bastard son of Battlefield / Call of Dutys secret sordid affair :D

It just baffles me how they still let that carry on. surely its a simple IP filter effort to keep everyone in their own region?

OK so I rang nu local xtravision and they said its 69.99. Why does the website say 56 then?

Contacted Xtravision, this is the reply I got:

    Hi Paddy,

Thank you for contacting hmv | Xtra-vision. We apologise for any confusion this may have caused.

Like many retailers, some of our online pricing may vary to those you find in your local hmv | Xtra-vision store, . Some titles are cheaper in-store than online and vice versa. This is the same with all major retailers from Supermarkets to other high street specialists. Our online business has a different cost structure to the High Street.
and would operate as a separate Business from our stand alone stores.

For the most part, you will find the exact same pricing online as in-store however on occasion, there may be some differences.

    With kind regards,
    HMV

That's a pretty unreliable thing to do. It would mean servers would need to maintain a geo IP database. And since IP ranges are constantly being traded/split/moved due to the exhaustion of IP v4 address space, an outdated entry would block thousands of players wrongly.

I was thinking it was probably an online only offer alright.

I have a feeling there are people who will just hate on this game just cos it's EA or because of the BF4 issues.

Or they are just straight up **** at battlefield :D

Well addressing my post, the group I play with, we have been pretty into BF together since the 1942 edition and played pretty much every title since. Few of the lads actually work for EA now in Galway, and one of the lads is arguably the best BF player I've ever seen, and put's all his time into it including making some pretty amazing videos for youtube.

Personally I've never really had much to moan about BF4. Sure there was initial launch issues with crashes etc., but its the same for every BF title pretty much. That got sorted pretty quickly imo and I've never had these complaints about netcode or hit boxes or bullet reg etc.

I'll keep my order alive and decide for myself, but the lads are a pretty good indicator for me. Gripes seem to be it feels like a rushed expansion rather then a standalone title, and it's not worth the money. Other various issues like maps, weapon balance and other things that arguably could be addressed.

We initially enjoyed the alpha and beta, but I think their expectations were a little higher then mine, as I'd considered this just a filler for the start of this year.

    ahaha sounds good!

For some reason CeX Galway have 5 copies of Hardline for both PS4 & XB1. Been like that a couple days. How did they get it so early, now as if people have already traded it in?, and they surely don't care about release date embargos.

They're also selling it for €45 if anyones from Galway here?

If you don't want to wait until midnight you can start playing Hardline right now.

    Just follow these steps -

Download SoftEther VPN Client plus the VPN GateCLient plugin. Just Google them.

Install and run the program. During installation choose the top option "SoftEther VPN Client". You'll be presented with a couple of choices regarding servers. Just pick a country that Hardline is already out in now...USA or anywhere in Europe except UK.

    Click "Connect to VPN server".

Launch Origin and sign into it. Hardline should now be available for you to play.

    Launch Hardline.

When it starts, Alt+Tab out of the game back to your desktop and stop the VPN Client running in the background. We don't need to fool EA in thinking we're in the backarse of Thailand anymore.

Click back into the Hardline app.

You're good to go. Enjoy the game. :);):P

If you want to play it, yes, the same as every other purchase method. To just buy the game and preload it, no.

No disrespect to the guy, but "one of the best you've ever seen"? Maybe you mean personally? There are some pretty amazing players out there, some of whom have Youtube channels.

Going to rent this later (thanks littlewoods for completely missing the delivery date as usual!). Can't wait to play it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,575 ✭✭✭ZiabR

For anyone looking to buy it in Smyths. For some reason they have all of the games on the shelves priced at 64.99 yet when it scans it is 55.99 which is correct as per their website.

It might not be to everyone's tastes I understand that but in my own opinion (and I've played a huge amount of Battlefield games - hell, Battlefield is the only franchise I actually pay for) it's just a ridiculously fun game. Silly laughs. Just something you put on, sit back and enjoy the stupidity and ridiculousness of it all.

Nice change of pace then, most games in this genre have a serious side so I am glad this one has maybe a slightly lighter approach and is fun to play.

Going to pick it up at lunch, will be my first battlefield experience

Yeah, it's definitely more arcadey than previous Battlefields.

This year it's not taking itself too serious at all. I was playing on Bank Job last night and all 32 players were doing a Robert DeNiro down the streets with cops hiding behind cars trying to push our way through....it felt exactly like Heat...great bit of craic.

Definitely a change of pace. It's a decent game. Will certainly hold anyone over until Battlefield 2143 in November.

Picking this up now. Add away if you're on PS4. I'm new to battlefield but I'm decent so I'll do well on your team.

    I wouldn't mind joining a boards clan?
