It is a game that could use a demo to properly introduce it alright. I got it recently and it's such an enjoyable game. I never was really into the Xcom games even though I played them so wasn't sure about this but it's a lot of fun to play. One of the nicest surprises of a game in ages for me.

I got Mario+Rabbids at Xmas. Played a little bit of it at the time, kind of thought it wasn't for me despite being reasonably fun. Played it again over the last couple of days. Can't stress enough how important it is to spend your coins and orbs on upgrades.

Once you start getting more abilities and weapons to choose from it becomes really challenging and fun. Really enjoying it now.

This was me all over. Got it, but was distracted initially by the Zelda shinyness. Once you get towards the end of the first World, it really picks up it's sticks....

Xenobalde chronicles 2, really enjoying it, tempted to start zelda but I think I'll hold off till I finish xc2.

Mainly Skyrim, though dipping into Super Meat Boy when I want a break. I have Resident Evil Collection ordered from the States, and Bayonetta preordered, so the next few months are sorted :)

BotW's been played for over 85 hours. SMO's gotten only 20-something in comparison.

Gungeon is my pick up and play game at the moment. It's a great "one more go" game.

I've been playing Mario Odyssey that last couple of weeks (as a break from Zelda and because I couldn't let the kids get too far ahead of me on their saves :D), finished the main story last weekend and just got past the 500 moon mark last night. Utterly brilliant game!!

Some of the mechanics are so clever and great fun to use, for example those
woodpecker things with the pointy beaks in Bowsers kindgom
    or
the little squids that shoot water out their arse in the Seaside Kingdom
    .

Won't have the time (nor patience) to try and get all the moons but still have lots of kingdoms to go back to and get more now - get a few more outfits at least.

    Finding out
Peach's Castle and the Mario 64 outfit
were in the game was a delight, serious nostalgia buzz there. The former was a total surprise as I came across it earlier in the game via those
paintings that warp you to other kingdoms
    .

Also, fair play to anyone who has cleared that
    Darker Side of the Moon
level. Christ some of the levels/moons in the game are a serious challenge!

Will go back to Zelda soon enough before I forget where I was at in that game.

Started Mario & Rabbids, just onto the 2nd world. Anyone got good tips for grinding coins, always short for buying new weapons (apart from getting perfects in each battle).

Just started Golf Story at the weekend. About 2 hours in. Very clever game and the perfect relaxing distraction after playing a few hours of Zelda.

Giving a thumbs up to Stick It To The Man. Currently on sale. It's a light puzzler where you try an solve people's bizarre issues. Weird explantation I know!

It reminds me of Ren & Stumpy with is art style and dark humour. Made me laugh out loud a few times. A couple of hours in but enjoying it.

Playing Oxenfree for the last couple of days. Can't really decide what I think of it.

Anyone construct any buildings in Stardew Valley?
    Seeking advice.
I'm worried if I build a coop it'll be destroyed in a storm like in Harvest Moon when you build something nice a storm knocks it & kills your stock.
Is it worth it building a stable to get a horse or should I make a silo before I buy cows :/

Playing a good bit of Guns, Gore & Cannoli on the Switch of late. It's a fairly basic Contra style shooter but the art style is pretty cool.

I find it is good for quick ten minute bursts of flamethrowering zombies!

I played about a year and a half of Stardew, no storm damage to my coop or barn. Only went through one autumn though, so that's not a guarantee.
You need a silo to feed your animals during winter, and it needs to be full of hay. If it's summer or earlier just get the barn and cows, they can graze outside, then build the silo before winter and make sure you fill it. They eat 1 unit of feed a day, you can't grow grass between end of autumn and start of spring so make sure you can feed all your cows for around 32 days (gives your new grass time to grow)
One tip for replanting grass - put a single fencepost on the starter grass patch. The cows can't eat it then but it will expand outwards.
I didn't get a horse so can't comment, but I'd argue that you'll have the money to buy the stable a lot quicker if you are churning out the artisan cheeses and mayonaises, and if you've been working towards completing certain challenges you'll have other means of getting around to key points of interest.

Is Stardew basically the Little House on the Prairie game we've always craved?

Playing Pinball FX3 last night, perhaps not the best use of the Switch, on the big screen, but it's a lot of fun.
Played some actual pinball in Token last week and the digital version served up in the game is pretty close to the real thing.

Those FX pinball games are very good. The quality of the different tables can vary, but the physics seem spot on. Of course, they can do stuff normal pinball tables can't too, but by and large they're pretty good.

Harder to play by sense of smell though

Seems intriguing. I've always been into pinball. Which just reminded me of my childhood self spending nearly all my time in the pinball tables in Sonic Adventure's Casinopolis.

I'm all over the place at the moment. I got 7 physical games for my new Switch over Xmas and about the same amount of digital games, and since then I've been bouncing in and out of all of them. (over-excitement over getting a new system - I tend to do this, a lot)

I've eventually settled down and sunk a good chunk of hours into a few games that I'm currently ploughing through.

I have a neat little plan going as well

When I'm at home or at my girlfriend's house I try to get as much done on Zelda as I can, and when I'm on a bus or in the car I find myself playing Stardew Valley a lot.

But at the moment I've taken a short break from both those games to play Oxenfree -- I had never heard of it until this week when it showed up on sale on the eShop (was €20, currently €4.99) and the best way I can describe it is a side-scrolling walking simulator (an interactive storybook game, essentially) but I'm surprisingly enjoying a lot of it - I didn't think I would. I reckon I'll have that done before the weekend is over, maybe even today or tomorrow.

    TL;DR:

    Oxenfree, Zelda and Stardew Valley

Mario Odyssey has finally sunk it's hooks into me, possibly due to the slackening off of the pace of the D&D game over in Forum Games. Still not convinced it's God's Gift to platforming but then I suppose it speaks to the consistent quality of main-line Mario games that it feels like a comfortable pair of slipper socks despite introducing so many new mechanics. Just about to bust up the wedding, which I gather is only a fraction of what this game is about, with 184 moons found so far, so plenty to see and do and after an initial period of meh I think I've hit that point where I can pick it up for 5 minutes and rummage for a quick moon or purple coin, and get the most out of the portability. The idea that I've only seen around 20% of the moons is terrifying when I think about some of the obscure looking places I've dug around to find the ones I have.

Completed the Champions' Ballad quest in BotW today. If I have to say, the outcome was rather underwhelming.

Did the main game storyline do much for you though? It didn't do much for me. I haven't purchased the DLC btw

To me, it wasn't bad, but it was no Majora's Mask either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,139 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Picked up the bargain of a lifetime Majoras Mask 3d in a 5 for €10 deal so I've been playing that now for the past few days. Got GTA Chinatown Wars in same deal blocky as it is its still fun to play, missed out on Majora on N64 due to having epilepsy, I am finding it hard to play so far on my eyes the colours are tripy and that damn moon is spooky. Still getting both Ocarina and Majoras Mask for under €20 all in is nice. :D

Picked up Legend of Legacy for 3ds in CeX recently was intriguing to see a Frog character in an rpg again, she's not that good though, it's a poor attempt so far and I'm surprised Atlus and NIS put their names on it. Seven characters to chose from is a good concept but not sure I'll give them all a go as it's dull so far.
