Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

. As you say they are amazing creatures and friends , am sure yours had a great and long life .

Amazing how much they become part of the family. My mutt is a stuck up little sh*t at the best of times but I'll be inconsolable when she passes. Affectionate as could be to me and goes bananas when I walk in the door.

    Sorry to hear, awec.

I think she was that age, we've had her about 15 years I think. Can't remember exactly.

Ham & cheese sangwich? It was originally a Munster dog!

Wasn't overly fussed on the bread, but if you had ham or cheese in the fridge and opened the fridge door she'd be over pronto.

Not a bit of Munster in her!

Sorry to hear about that mate. My dog went the exact same way last year and I'm still not over it. Just be thankful for all the time you had together and take some comfort knowing she had a long and happy life.

This past few months my long range vision has gone to hell. Can't read the small text on the TV from the couch. Going to have to go for an eye test.

It's weird how your sight can randomly decide to not work as well!

Has anyone seen Gio Trappatoni's comments about rugby & its fans in Gazzetto dello Sport? Not going to endear himself to footie fans methinks.

Wife's flight from San Fran gets in at 11.30 this morning.

That gives me approx 4 hours to transform the house to livable from the current "chernobyl" state that it is currently in.

Anyone know how to switch on a mop?

It really is a tragic state of affairs when your 4 year old cruises past you hoovering for all she's worth!!

The other 2 are polishing and tidying up.

I'm supervising in my official role as "adult" of the house.

Fargo is ok, Billy Bob Thornton is it's one major plus, Freeman just does his normal gurning & head nodding shtick with an accent .
Not a patch quality-wise on True Detective though

Well I agree TD is far better but I think Freeman really is excellent in it, whilst he was typecasted for his squirmy nature he still comes across as a very unique character.

What are the links to the film?

Obviously, I gather it's set in Fargo.

But story-wise? Character-wise? Any of the production/writing team? It does seem to be quite similar in tone even from that trailer.

It's the same basically I guess my thinking is coloured because the movie is bit of a modern day classic imo

Its actually set in Bemidji and Duluth. But the links to Fargo are mostly thematic. The story is entirely different, characters different etc.

    Freeman's character is very similar.

I am fecking jinxed. Got a puncture on my bike and now I have to walk home from the rds in the rain.

Bike heads, what do you have to do to fix a puncture? I've never had one before.

You're obviously not a country boy!! As a cub we were forever fixing punctures on our bmx's and racers - hedge cutting meant thorns galore. 2 teaspoons to remove the tyre from the rim. Out with the tube and a bucket of water to look for bubbles - or if the object is sticking through the tyre then where it hit the tube should locate the hole. Fine sandpaper to give the glue and patch something to "take" to. Patch on - well rolled on. Hairdryer to help the glue dry. Remove foreign object from tyre. Put tube back in, using the backs of the spoons to fix the tyre back to the rim. Sneak the spoons and hairdryer back in to the house taking care not to be spotted by the mother. Job done.

Or take it to halfords and get them to do it!!

The days of fixing a puncture seem gone. Every time I've got one the bike shop just seem to throw in a new tube.

You don't have a spare tube and tools with you?

Don't fix a puncture at the side of the road, quicker to just change tube, pump up the wheel and repair the punctured one at home.

I got a nice one in next about a year ago that was pretty good value. It was slim fit though, but they have regular too!

If you paid that you were robbed blind, €12 is the standard price in any bike shop I have ever been in around Dublin.

You'll need the tools to change a tube at the side of the road. Like the bits to take the wheel off and to get the tire off the rim.

And then back on again which is the hardest part. Bring rubber gloves, saves your hands getting stinking.

Might have also been getting a bit of other stuff done too, brakes, gears etc. But yeah, maybe I got ripped off.
