Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, it's not often acknowledged but this is actually the most read rugby forum on boards.ie

Is there more than one rugby forum on Boards? If you mean this thread, then there's others with more views

Mourad Boudjellal, who knew some of the deceased, called it the 9/11 of the Press. It's horrendous.

    Yeah it's pretty rough.

They seem to have them holed up at Dammartin-en-Goele now.

Lot of weird stuff the CT tinfoil hat crowd will go mad for though... like apparently finding their ID at one of the scenes...

Sky news was reporting they have hostages this time, so it could get worse...

    Yeah apparently one.

I can very much see a scenario where nobody leaves that building alive, unfortunately.

I doubt they surrender. They'll either get shot or turn the guns on themselves. Hopefully the hostage survives though. I imagine they put snipers in place in these situations in the case where they are stupid enough to show their heads.

Yeah. It's mad to think what those guys can do these days. I think of the end scene of Captain Phillips.

But it's in a warehouse, and there's probably limited access to them, so plenty of scope for things to go wrong. Hopefully not though - as you say, hopefully the hostage survives.

Apparently they said they "want to die as martyrs" - so they're going down shooting it looks like. Personally I'd love to see them captured and locked up for life in a cell festooned with Charlie Hebdo cartoons.

In the midst of all the anti-Muslim stuff resulting, I thought this was apt:

I really, REALLY hope they catch em alive and don't make martyrs out of them. Surely they could gas em?

They'd open fire on the hostage the second anything they don't like happens.

    Remember Russia?

Russians tried that during the Moscow opera theatre siege and ended up killing quite a few of the hostages.

Knocking people out with gas is actually quite tricky to do right. Hence anesthesiologists getting paid so well!

Stade are playing Castres tonight at Jean-Bouin. Tbh I'd have second thoughts about going near any public gathering in Paris.

Aye, sounds like it was a fairly slickly co-ordinated operation. Double hit at exactly the same time on both locations.

Some hostages released and gunmen killed according to latest reports. Hopefully all the hostages survived

Now sounds like this wasn't the case at all and 4 hostages were killed at the bakery...

Only thing is we don't know when they died. But looking at the images it looked very hard for the teams to get a clean entry, only two entrances.

Sounds like the police at the bakery were forced to go in at short notice as the two terrorists at Dammartin came out shooting - the guy/guys in the bakery had threatened to kill hostages if anything happened their buddies. I'd imagine having to go in like that, not on their own terms and not as planned as it could have been, would be a very difficult situation...

That kind of thing is lose-lose for the authorities. Leave it too long and these guys would shoot the hostages. Try and take them out and the hostages get caught in the middle. The best they can do is minimise the casualties. Hopefully they've done that. As much as I wanted those people arrested and imprisoned instead of martyred there was no way that was going to happen.

Yea really bad. Starters came almost straight after ordering and then there must have been about a 30 minute wait for the main course.

The food itself wasn't great either, mine was only lukewarm and the portion was pitiful. Doubt I'll be back.
